New MxO Video Series - Interested?

We're gonna try it. Grim has been working on a roleplay "book" for a while now and has around 20 chapters. She has the first two posted in the "Chronicles" forum. I thought it might be a good idea to try to convert her story to the big screen, so to speak! With a story already made, we've already got half the job done!

Here are the challenges with this series:

1. Voice work. We're going to try to incorporate dialogue. We need voice actors, but we also need to figure out how to make active dialogue work while in MxO. Obviously not all of our characters can wear bandanas.

2. Transition from story to film. A lot of the story takes place out of the Matrix or includes things we can't do in-game. We have to find ways around this and either alter the story or creatively film to make it work.

3. Filming itself. Not only do we need characters, but we need filmers! Since I am a character in this movie, I will not be able to do all the filming. Also, it will need a lot of Photoshop work (such as text appearing on computer monitors).

We're going to make a pilot starting...now! We'll take the first chapter and convert it to video. We need two voice actors for the first one. I'm assuming Grim will portray herself, but we need a Sevker. Who is up for the position?

Here are the rough drafts of the first two scripts:

Chapter 1

Some sort of cool beginning. A body of water. Grim is in the water. A flash.

Sevker: No sleeping on the job

An office. Grim is at the computer. One or two others are there as well, busy at terminals. Sevker is standing over Grim. At this point there might be some narration or introduction.

Grimkitten: Whatever. You're fifteen minutes late! I could have used those extra fifteen minutes of sleep ya know?

Sevker chuckles

Grimkitten: So what's on the list for today?

Sevker: If it were up to me, jack off and do nothing.

Grimkitten: Heh...

Sevker: Here, missy, you like puzzles. (types on Grim's computer). I found this last night.

Grimkitten: (groaning) It's freakin seven in the morning dude.

Grim checks out the screen. Screen shows FA site.

Grimkitten: Haven't I seen this before?

Sevker: I found it last night. I was going to play around with it, but I passed out.

Sevker sits at nearby terminal

Sevker: Bet I can solve it first!

Grimkitten: You're on!

Some sort of dream thingy goes here. And then she awakes

Grimkitten: (waking up. to herself) Ah, the puzzle! Wait...it's finished. Did I finish it? Yes, I did. I think. (sigh) I should sleep more...or sleep less.

Sevker: (playfully) Finished yet, cupcake?

Grimkitten: Yeah...that's...weird. (to herself) Hmm, so now I've been "freed" by these so called "angels", eh?

Computer screen goes black

Grimkitten: Aw, dammit (to herself)Hmm, nothing wrong with the cables.

Green cursor flashes on screen.

Grimkitten: Steve, you playing with SynchronEyes again?

Sevker: Uh, no...

Sevker gets up and approaches Grim's computer

Sevker: (while walking to computer) We don't have that on these computers, only the student lab computers. (sees screen) I think we may have been hacked. Crap!

Sevker rushes to other side of room

GrimKitten: Where are you going?

Sevker: To pull the plug before they can access any of our shit.

Grimkitten: (standing and trying to get Sevker's attention) Hey wait! Come look at this!

Sevker: Kitty, I don't--fuck!

Sevker falls and is hurt on the ground. Grim laughs

Grimkitten: Only you, sunshine!

Sevker: Thanks for the vote of confidence. (Stands) Too bad you didn't catch that on tape.

Sevker walks out of the room. Grim glances back at the computer. It reads "An Angel watches over you...". She runs out of the room after Sevker. Some sort of cool end.


Chapter 2

Static noise during intro. Water. Then FPV of ceiling of bedroom, slowly coming into focus.

Grimkitten: (voiceover) That dream...

Sidewalk with random person walking by.

Grimkitten: (shouting) Damn alarm clock!

Sound of window shattering and thud on sidewalk. Random person looks up in window. Back in bedroom

Grimkitten: That dream... (coughs). Water? But...how...it's just a dream. I highly doubt I was really swimming in a giant tank, carrying precious glass bottles full of ash. That can't be real. (sigh) What is real, anyway?

Walks to computer and sits (if possible). Blank screen

Grimkitten: Now what's wrong with it..

Words appear on screen: Wake up, Kitten.

Static noise again. The ceiling once more. The sidewalk.

Grimkitten: (screaming from window again) AHHH!!

Again with the crash and thud and guy looking up. Back to the room Grim rushes to computer. Computer reads "Are you ready?". Knocking. Grim opens door, revealing Sevker in Matrix attire.

Sevker: (almost serious) You're late for work, cupcake.

Grimkitten: Dude, it's Saturday. And since when do you come hunt me down when I'm late for work anyway?

Sevker: (soflty. incomprehendable) Follow the angel...

Grimkitten: What?

Grim turns and sees computer from across room. Close up of the words "Follow the Angel." while Sevker says next line.

Sevker: Follow the Angel.

Grim looks back at Sevker. Tbone is now standing in doorway with Sevker. Some sort of cool Tbone intro...lol.

Grimkitten: (voiceover) Wow...he's gorgeous.

Tbone: Sevker. Tell them we're on our way down.

Grimkitten: (voiceover) Sevker? Who the-??

Sevker: Yes, sir

Sevker bows and leaves. Tbone walks in room.

Tbone: Miss Grimkitten?

Grimkitten: (voiceover) How does he know my online alias?

Tbone: You look tired. Having trouble sleeping?

Grimkitten: Uh...yeah...

Grimkitten: (voiceover) His eyes!

Green glow or code in Tbone's eyes briefly

Tbone: I can show you what it all means. I know your dreams are haunting you. They are more real than you know.

Grimkitten: (almost breathless) What the hell is going on?

Tbone approaches very close

Tbone: You're trying to break free. Your mind is trying to let go without aide. We can afford to lose you.

Grimkitten: We?

Tbone: Your Angels. We've been watching you. I think you're ready for the Truth.

Grimkitten: (voiceover) Angels? Like the puzzle Steve showed me the other day. But...that was just a website...

Grimkitten: The truth about what?

Tbone: The truth about the pain I see in your eyes. That frustration and confusion of not knowing what is real, whether you're awake or not. You think you're still dreaming, don't you? (pause) You are. You're still dreaming. The reason you're struggling with the difference between your waking moments and your sleeping dreams is because there is no difference. You're still dreaming.

Grimkitten: (voiceover) This doesn't make sense. Not in the slightest. How could I always be dreaming? But...I am. Somehow, I'd always known. Known that the world around me was just a moment in time, to be added to another memory somewhere down the line, just to be forgotten. Just a dream to be forgotten.

Grim puts head in hands

Tbone: You ahve to let go. I can only show you the door. I know you know the way. (pause) Let go.

Grim falls/faints. In darkness we hear...

Tbone: (voiceover) Close your eyes. Follow the Angel. Let go.

Flash of bright light.

[Fuse]

Okay, so here are some ideas.

Outside the Matrix: I have several ideas for this. Some are rediculous. One, we could do REAL acting. Like, you come to my house with a Sony and we record this sucker like hardcore porn. Second, we can use other games that allow for some of the emotes that we can't use. Problem is, the characters will look rediculously different. Third, we can animate, as in Flash, or cartoon-like, anime, or something. Fourth, screenshots. Snap-shots with fade in-out. The main idea is that is has to look NOTHING like inside the Matrix.

Inside the Matrix: ingame MxO (easy enough ... right? *cringe*)

Dreams: Animated. Cartoons. Who is good with Flash?

EDIT: I have better RAM now, so hopefully I can FRAPS some of this myself, which would be great. Some scenes (such as the training) I will HAVE to FRAPS myself ... obvious reasons ... lol

Again, these are only ideas, but they can be very fun. Especially that part at my house. But anyway!! I went through the chapters and grabbed a quick look at who is in what chapters, which is represented here (I'm in every chapter, obviously, so I didn't put my name in lol):

the awakened radio ads did a decent job at syncing the lips with the voice, but like i said decent not perfect.

i edited the post to make it easier to see how many male/female voices we need.

Just a note: Many characters mentioned are non-speaking or have 1-2 lines, so don't get TOO excited hehe. :p

EDIT: I will talk to Sevker about coming in to do his voice part. There are several names mentioned on the list that you can see are no longer in the faction. It would be awesome if we could get a hold of those people and offer them the voice position. Anyone got connections? :p

I just had a thought, and its a bit of a stretch, but work with me here.

Somewhere out there, I am almost positive that there has been a map made for some FPS (more than likely, Q3, Unreal, or something like that) based on a Hovercraft, or the Real world. It wouldn't be too hard to frap in that game. 'eh?
