I hope I'm not stepping on toes by making this suggestion.  I ran an RP organization for another MMO and one of the minimum requirements for joining was that applicants had to submit a back-story for their character.  We didn't require that members be hardcore RPers, but we wanted them to at least have given their character some history and depth and that they at least had some tendancies toward RP.  It also made for some very interesting reading.

I'm not sure what you'd think about making this a "required" assignment, but it might be interesting to include a page dedicated to player profiles/bios/backstories.

well its not really stepping on any toes, some people like rping, hell i know i do, its a lot of fun if ya can find people who enjoy it as much as you do, but there are people out there that are...how could i say it, rp challenged. there lack of immagination keeps them from rping all together and just enjoy the story, graphics, and gameplay.

yes, we have a biography section of the site, but it's not geared 100% towards roleplaying. if you look, many of those biographies are just a real life summary kind of thing. i do like your idea though. i'm not sure about making it mandatory, but then, mandatory would make sense. after all this is an mmoRPG. everything about the game is roleplay, so i don't know how people get away from it. if you don't enjoy roleplay, what are you doing in an rpg? just my opinion.

In my opinion, we should, somewhere down the road, make it mandatory. The back-story shouldn't have to be a work of art, but there should be some kind of history of the player before he/she joined the Furious Angels. With the back-story, everyone will get an good idea of what the player is like, instead of only knowing them by their appearance. I am going to make mine soon so everyone will know about my RSI's past and other stuff. To me, the back-stories will bring more life to the game itself as well as the faction. It's just a thought, but if we were voting on whether making it mandatory or not, my vote would be yes.

I like this suggestion alot, back stories really add depth to the group. It should at least be required that your in game description has a bio of some sort after release, even if it is not requied on the website.

I'm working on my character's back-story.  I've temorarily put it on hold until I finish the RP assignment, but I plan on posting it as soon as I'm done.

i've actually got about 6½ chapters (short ones) of a back story ... it's one of those things that i'm not sure if i want to start posting it til it's more complete or not .... suggestions?

You could start out with a basic condensed version to give us an idea how your character became involved with FA.

heh, 6½ IS condensed ... i'm an english major, i love writing (heh, my posts show it) .... i tried to keep things as clean-cut as possible, but cutting some things out kind of loses the passion of the situation, i guess you could say. my current decision tho was more of, should i post all of what i have so far, should i start posting chapter by chapter, one a week or something, or what? meh, not a big deal right now, and we are getting off the topic of the post. SO anyway. yeah. there ya go.
