ATTN: Instructions from MxO Staff
« on: January 19, 2005, 02:01:02 pm »
As some of you know, we're on good relations with the MxO Staff. Every once in a while, they ask us to help out, and now is one of those times.

I was contacted by Thoth. Here is our mission:

"Can you come up with a comprehensive list of all known XP exploits and create a petition? I want to compare what we know and have documented with what the players know. Sometimes people figure something is reported when it's not."

So I need each and every one of you to report any XP exploits you know of here. Please try to be as specific as possible. Test out previous ones and see if there are workarounds. I hear rumor that RIP still knows of one that levels them very quickly. We need to create a "comprehensive" list, so this should become everyone's priority for the next day or so. Thanks guys!

Unfixed Exploits

-ALT F4 Duping - While you cannot get XP this way, it is worth noting that you can dupe Information and items by ALT F4ing. If you swap ANY items/info and ALT-F4 before details are "written to database", the user can come back in as if he swapped nothing - naturally whoever he swapped with keeps the stuff he got.

-Decoy - In the coding tree there is an ability to create a Decoy of yourself. A level 10 can kill it in 1 or 2 shots and get 200 xp. There is a timer on the ability, but it can be repeated to powerlevel lower levels.

-Agent Killing - This one took a while to discover. I heard RIP discovered this, but when I asked a few of their members, they refused to give me any information. I heard the information was leaked to another faction, which led me to EvilMonkey, who was more than willing to cooperate fully. I was told that RIP was attracting many Agents and killing them. Killing the Agents apparently gives their lower levels a lot of XP. He told me that the RIP using the exploit all had Ballista loaded. Based on my knowledge, I think they might be using Static Field combined with other abilities that buffs its damage and effectiveness. I have not tested this one, but it is all the information I could find about this newest exploit.

I'd be happy to be the lab rat to see how quickly we can level from these XP exploits if you need one.

I am still trying to crank up from lvl29

Regardless, let me know how I can be of service..

More than anything I just need a list. For instance

"When doing the so-and-so mission, you can cancel before it is over and repeat to quickly gain XP"

"So-and-so mission repeats over and over and can be spawned in the same place so that XP can quickly be earned."

"Killing your own simalacra give you 10,000 XP!"

These are made up examples, but you get the idea...go into more detail than that, but I need the list more than I need to know how effective each exploit is. Thanks!

The thing that gets me is we tell them about these bugs weeks ago, its probably the safe mission helez or somone found and the dev team blew it off and now a month later some loser finds it or has found it for weeks and now the community is fumming like mad about it on the mxo boards.

Don't believe everything you think.

[hangs head in shame....]

I will do what  I can to help, but I spent more time running around the world of MegaCity taking in the sites, getting to know the dirt (aka getting my ass handed to me by mobs), and getting familiar with the interface and doing some /ccr stuff

I haven't spent much time running missions on my own, and the latest Zion mission I have been trying to run is bugged (e.g. the items I pick up for tranmission at the hardline cancels out one of the objectives I all ready completed making it unfinishable and has been /ccr'd).

If you could suggest other mission contacts besides Tyndall I would happily attempt to gather intel on mission bugs so they can be verified and listed for the devs.

-ALT F4 Duping - While you cannot get XP this way, it is worth noting that you can dupe Information and items by ALT F4ing. All it requires is for the one giving the items to ALT F4 right after the transaction completes. Once you jack back in, you'll have your items while the person you traded to also has them.

Hmmmn, that could be worded better? If you swap ANY items/info and ALT-F4 before details are "written to database", the user can come back in as if he swapped nothing - naturally whoever he swapped with keeps the stuff he got.

I don't get it. Even if we do report the bugged missions that allow us to get XP quick, what does it matter? I thought most of these missions are just busy missions. The real missions won't be released until the game is released. And in that case all they really need to do it base the pseudorandom number (PR#) generator off more then just your currect location. (And not just actions, I and others put many days into find the pseudorandom numbers in Golden sun based off actions.) Therefore just have any mission location PR# based off the currect location is their only true fault. TIME to the millisecond PR# !!!!!

I am not sure if this is a bug but it is something i realized.  If you have the decoy ability and clone yourself, a level 10 can kill it in 1 or 2 shots and get 200 xp....now there is a timer on the ability but if 3 guys wanted to powerlevel 1 its very possible.

Do you honestly believe that these basic 'busy' missions are not going to be there when the game goes live?  There cannot be content 24/7 and if you are to do missions nearly the entire time you are online - I bet you my left hand that within a week you will be out of missions until the next content update.  Plus, the things that they find with these busy missions that most certainly will be in the game after you complete all the content missions, they can fix whatever problems are there and apply them to the actual content missions.

hehe.  They also may not be in the same form mind you.  They'll probably take away the generic name and rename them something nifty, and fix all those little story holes and what not.  But don't doubt that they will be in the final release in some form, because I am 100% certain that they will be.  All the stuff that we fix now will be applied, so .. report them bugs and help me reproduce that safe bug :P

Browsing the forums today, I came across a rather interesting post on eploits,

http://thematrixonlineboards.warnerbros.com/newboards/thread.jspa?threadID=2000036992&tstart=0

many in this post will not reveal the exploit, rather they insist on complaining about its existance.

I think we should keep a close on eye this if we are not already.
