I was about to reply to a Machinist thread and discuss the goals of the Zionists from my point of view, but before I stated my opinions I wanted to make sure that my ideals are similar to those of my factions. Representing the most powerful Zionist faction, I can understand how my words might have a strong resonance on the MxO boards and how it might effect how FA is viewed. So I would like to discuss your views on what our Zionist Faction stands for and how we would like to achieve our absolute goals. I would especially like to hear from our HvCFT leaders on this topic, as well.

I'd like to get this started by telling you my opinions of what a Zionist's goals should be inside the Matrix because I may see it differently than some. First, I believe that Zionists number one objective should be to maintain Human's existance on this Earth, by any means. This objective is the most important, however, it is the most vague as well. Vague because of what we are willing to do to ensure it. In my opinion, there are really 2 kinds of Zionist. One's goals are to ensure Human existance by whatever means necessary. The other's goals are to end the existence of the Machines; ending their control over us. As I am not TOO opposed to the latter, I believe that the best way to ensure this, at the moment, is through coexistence through the use of the truce given to us by Neo. Now, 'by whatever means necessary' ,in my opinion, means to attempt to keep the peace as a way to protect our way to free blue pills from the Matrix and build Zion into a huge and powerful city. If peace can not be kept then we will do what is deemed best to keep us alive and free from the Matrix. However, I believe as the Oracle said,"The only way to move forward is together." Doing this through peace and Zionist and Machinist joint efforts.

Some of you may be thinking that I'm coming from somewhat of a Machinists point of view. I agree that some of these ideals may be in tune with some of those of the Machinists, but are the Machinist's goals and Zionist's goals that much different? Yes and No. I think there are 2 kinds of Machinists as well. Those who have embraced the plight of the Machines as their own, believing that the Earth is what is most important and that the Matrix is it's, as well as human's, savior. They believe that Humans have made too many mistakes and caused to much damage to its surroundings and eachother and believe that we NEED to be controlled. The others are 100% for Humans coexistence. They believe that the only way for human's to exist on this planet is by ensuring that the Matrix exists, thus giving the Machines it's power, keeping the peace and making certain that those in Zion will remain free. However, Do you think that the 2nd kind of Machinist that I spoke of would be for a way to end the Matrix if both could still move forward in peace? I believe they would.

In conclusion, I believe that our goal is to free the minds of those that our ready and willing to see the truth and find a way to 'move forward' peacefully. I think that another war would not only be never ending, but would not be the best way to ensure our future, atleast at this point and time. Zionists should also understand that our 'true' enemies, at this point, are not the Machines, but are those that want to conserve the existence of the Matrix for there own personal agendas and not for the purpose of Human existence. These enemies would include those who side with the Merovingian, as well as those Machinists who believe Human's are too feable minded to control our own fate. I wonder where some of the Machinists faction's intents lie? I think most would fall into the 2nd category, and would respect our stance and therefore be allies. Those that would not agree....well, we know where their true loyalty, as well as our relationship with them stands.

I would like our Faction to have a specific stance on this issue that can be shared and promoted by all of our members. So do you agree with this perspective? I hope to hear your ideas on where exactly we should stand on this issue and how, in the future, we might interact with factions that are Zionist and Machinist.

I really have never seen the Faction as a WHOLE have a stance. We are usually open to whichever view that we have as a zionist, whether its laid back or a little radical in comparison to other members, but as a whole are main goal is simply to be a living breathing part of the story. In a roleplay sense we are sent in Because of the rising machinist threat and are therefore dispatched to do whatever it takes to keep them out of zion. Whether that means to keep the peace or to completely irradicate them all. I personally have the more pacifist view that you suggested towards the matrix.(take it whichever way you please but zionist was the last view i would picture myself having) and so would like peaceful coexistence with the machines.

To my knowledge, the RP reason that FA was formed was to free minds against the wishes of the C/O - to free them without limit. That road would eventually lead to hostilities against the machines.

I have to agree with the more pacifist view. Not from a machinist's point of view but solely on the underlying truth.

Both the Zionist's and the machines need the other because one can't exist without the other.

The Machines need power to survive and therefore "raise" their power source by growing humans, and if this power source was ever taken away from them compleyely then, after a period of time, all of the machines would be eliminated by being without a renewable energy source.

Now that leaves the entire human population without the Matrix and in a post-apocalyptic world that still remains from when the machines first enslaved the human race. The majority of that population would be unclothed, physically weak, and unable to survive the harsh climate. Even with the number of hovercraft that existed before the battle of zion an astronomical number of humans would perish.

And then more questions at this point come to mind like housing, feeding, rebuilding, etc ...

The way I see it is that the only way to a peacful solution is by a symbiotic relationship where both parts are interdependant on the other and if something jeopardizes, or compromise the existance of either part (like the Merovingian) then both parts as a whole need to react to the threat.

I may be speaking a bit out of turn, but this also makes sence a logical way.

I see the point behind these ideas, but I copied this from the FAQ:

The Angels is a Zionist faction. They are trying to free every last human from the grips of the machines. They are against the Machinists, humans who believe that the ignorance of the Matrix is better than the trauma of the Real. They are also against the Exiles who are on the side of the Merovingian. They play the war for selfish reasons and for their own profit.

I think it might be good to get a more detailed stance from Tbone on this. Maybe hit him up on TS or in AIM because as the Commander/Founder, this is his baby & he makes that ultimate decision. Granted, a little discussion on the topic may help to shape the formal stance, but I will stand behind T and his views.

As far as the logic of a peaceful coexistance is concered, I have to agree that from a survival standpoint mankind would have a tremendously difficult time supporting a population of millions without the luxury or what you and I take for granted in the 'real world'. I don't know if it would really be so much co-existance as it would be a co-tolerance. Until we can support a greater population it might be wise to simply stop the Machines & their supporters from trying to recapture their control over humanity & stop the Merovingian from becoming too powerful.

I concur wholeheartedly with you, Beleev. That's exactly what I believe. However, in addition, I think we, as Zionists, also take on the responsibility of freeing anyone from the Matrix if they want out. To free them from bondage.

Of course, we all know that if the Machines were smart they'd start producing games using their uber-reality technology (+ safeguards, damnit.) Battlefield 3099! Servers hosting 3000+ players! Gamers would flock to the Matrix, provided they could get out if they wanted to xD
