Reason For Site Downtime
« on: September 24, 2004, 06:26:59 pm »
I emailed my VizaWeb and they replied informing me that the whole server is under a DDOS attack. I'm trying to discover if the attack is specifically aimed at us or not. I received over 80 email in my Inbox today from the site requesting a change of password on my account, so I think we might be under attack. Stupid stupid people...

Things to ponder...I suggest that maybe, if possible, we can maybe change the server  ip to alteast find out if these attacks are from previous members of our clan, or from current spies.

What's up with these people?!?!? They're in FEDERAL trouble now! Are they so stupid to think they can commit crimes over a video game and escape being caught? I agree, Tbone. Stupid! Btw, I'm glad we're back up.

I used to work as a teen counselor for a teen support chat/help website...We helped teens with all sorts of teenage problems and stuff. You know, teens helping teens, etc etc...

We had 2 teen users that were somewhat haxx07 and would occasionally attack our servers with DDOS attacks, for much less reasoning btw then for a game, effectively sending them offline for bouts at a time. We did notify the authorities, but unfortunately nothing was ever done.....

I'm saying all this to say that even if we notify the authorities, it's not always a garantee they they'll do much of anything...

EDIT: i apologize Orasu...I think faster then I can type...

DDOS attacks are hard to prevent if the attacks are coming from random proxies.
If its coming from one set IP, then its easy, but hard for a machine to spot sometimes, hence you manually have to notice the DDOS, and block if possible.
