2.0 Crit Changes

This is a PSA. Currently on the PTS, crit has been significantly adjusted. The amount of crit chance you get from your main stat has been reduced, as has the amount of crit you get from crit rating.

As a result, ALL classes currently benefit more from POWER than CRIT CHANCE. This may be adjusted by Bioware, but until it is, expect to adjust your min/maxing to reflect this change. Currently ~24% crit chance, or 400 crit rating, is giving me the best results.

If these changes make it to live, classes that have "auto-crits" Focus Guardians, Vanguards, and others will totally dominate.  They will have little to no crit (since they autocrit) and stack power to the moon.  The rest of us mortals will have to min/max and include crit rating which will take away points we could spend in power.

Basically, this is total BS.

To make it worse, crits ignore the majority of tank defenses.  That makes the auto-crit crowd even more deadly in PvP because they're now tank killers as well.

Also, given how bolster works, I'm more convinced now than ever that Expertise is a stupid, unless, and totally unneeded stat in the game.  It should be removed totally.  Check the PTS thread on the SWTOR forums for the interesting discussion about it.

TTK is still too short.  Resolve still sucks.

UPDATE as of 3/14

"Increased amount of critical chance given per point of primary attribute (Aim, Cunning, Strength, Willpower).
Increased amount of critical chance given per point of Critical rating."

Gonna have to check out the new changes.

I did a tiny bit of forum searching, it seems it's not that big of a difference in overall damage.

First hand tests will be the only real way to see, as mentioned.
