SMITE is a third-person shooter twist on the Mobile Online Battle Arena (MOBA) formula that pits deities of different pantheons against one another. I've been playing in the closed beta since September or so and have enjoyed it plenty, but have been limited in the number of friend invites available to me. This last week, SMITE has entered open beta! Come pick up arms as Anubis, Anhur, Odin, Thor, Zeus, Cupid, Hercules, and many more!

Side note: For anyone starting up the game for the first time this week, I would STRONGLY suggest trying out Artemis (ranged, physical DPS) Ra, (ranged, magical DPS) or Sun Wukong (melee, physical DPS) for your first go-around. These are fairly straightforward characters with simple mechanics that offer effective strategies that will give you a solid footing on others.

Also, the 'noob bracket' only lasts until level 5. If we get a few people interested in playing then I'll gladly start up a smurf account to play with you. Otherwise, getting to level 5 only takes about as many matches and will let you play and queue with higher level players.

Yes and no. Same game style, different perspective. Third-person camera with WSAD+Mouse movement and aiming. Everything is a skill shot.

Maybe it's just me but when I tried it during closed beta it felt very slow and clunky. Perhaps its something I have to get used to.

Also, they removed Focus from the game entirely.
Focus was a stat that would increase the time on CC effects.
Pretty much made my day.
