It doesn't come with 2.2. Rooting is basically a form of cracking three software lock from the distributor, allowing you to put customized programs or roms on... a rom is basically th e collection of OS and additional third party apps.

i'll be honest, I feel the interface on the android phones is a bit confusing. That said, I have been thoroughly impressed with the innovative applications that 3rd party developers have come up with (ie my wife's lg ally has a metal detector app-works well too). I guess that is the point of android phones. Anyway, still happy with my pre plus.

Yeah, Android is turning iPhone into nothing but proprietary, outdated, closed system crap.

Just read an article that an Android phone (I think it was HTC) will have a 2ghz processor by the end of the year. Which will allow for native 720p output, handle multitasking, and easily tackle intensive applications like remote desktop. It won't be long until the smartphone replaces the laptop.

My nexus one does all that-so does the evo. (only note is that the n1 needs a mod for the 720p recording)

That sucks, but considering how fast these things come to market and that it is a band new phone I always expect soemthing like this to come up.

The only negative thing I can comment on when comparing the evo to my N1 is the image quality. They are the same resolution, but the evo screen is much larger so the N1 seems much crisper and bright. Soemtimes the Evo screen just looks too 'flat' if that makes sense. This is on both of the ones I've used.
