Now, let's not take it too hard on the SWG devs just yet. They are a bunch of smart guys who are real friendly and talk with the community constantly. For all of the MMORPG's out there, the SWG devs are superb when it comes to Dev/Player communication.

That being said, they are also SOE employees, and next to SWG, they also run the most popular American MMORPG: EverQuest. When half a million people are signed up for your game, you tend to look at what everybody loves in it when making another.

That's all the SWG devs did. They looked at what worked in EverQuest, and they put it into SWG. Unfortunately, for all real purposes, SWG has become a carbon copy of EQ, and the fact of the matter is, everything that worked in EQ is targeted at an audience of 13 year old fucking retards who wouldn't know a good time if it wrestled them to the ground and fucked them up the ass.

Now, you can't dispute that the SWG Devs are a bunch of friendly guys, who communicate with their players, who look to them for inspiration on where to take the game. I'd also say that it's a bit ignorant to assume that they're stupid, just because you don't like their game.

For all their good qualities, they have two faults. Unfortunately, these two faults are much heavier on the scale than all their other good qualities COMBINED. The first, is that the MAJORITY of the SWG community is perfectly content grinding their lives away 24/7 so that once in a blue moon they can get a DING and level up. Who think that when you group up and go out to some Fort Tuskan or other populated dungeon area and just bash away at everything in sight, that this actually passes for a good time. The fact of the matter is, the MAJORITY of the SWG community is a bunch of pimply faced young-teen loser ass bitches who once again, wouldn't know the difference between a good and a bad MMO if they had a dick measuring contest in his ass. The problem is that the Devs listen to these guys, because once again, they're the MAJORITY.

The other unfortunate thing, is that anyone who wants something MORE than what SWG offers, don't even constitute a minority. There's so few of us, and we're scattered about that nobody could even consider us a group. We're just a bunch of intelligent INDIVIDUALS, who when we post our thoughts on the SWG forums, we just get bashed by all the "ur dum dood" little kiddy bastards who don't quite make us feel inferior, but sure as hell makes us feel like NOBODY is listening to us. I mean when you make a post trying to change the way SWG sucks ass, and then 15 little retards post on your thread telling you how much you suck, how much you're a dumbass, and how your ideas are stupid and would never work and should never be implimented, at least not until they get their Master-Jedi-in-Mandalorian-Armor-wielding-a-Krayt-Scaled-FWG-Super-Duper-Uber-Pistol.

The SWG Dev's other major fault, is that they're sellouts. They've sold their, and more importantly, Star Wars' soul to Satan in order to create a game just like EQ. Now given, SWG has things that EverQuest doesn't, like dancing and a much more heavy-on-crafting system. Regardless, it's all mindless grinding, and will never change. They're sellouts, pure and simple.

Well I have to say, I wasn't really trying to get at the devs personally.  I think that they should make the game HARD, it is soo easy to level up in anything at anytime.  I could master the scout profession in about 2 hours if I really tried.  The only one I have found a challange has been the Unarmed Combat, it has taken me the better side of 10 hours non solid gamplay.  I admit I am grinding it, yes, and in a way I am kind of ashamed but it is still reasonably satifying when you can do that kind of thing.  Anyway back to my first point.

They should make it so much harder than it is currently,  I think that in my opinion in the game seeing a Teras Kasi Master should be as rare as seeing a Padawan, and it goes for any master.  Not only that, but you shouldn't be able to grind like you do at the moment.  There should be more rewards for those who do achieve Master in any set skill,  a Master Weaponsmith should be given a workshop, a Teras Kasi Master a shrine or something, a Pistoleer master should be given an amazing unique pistol or armour and the same for any of the weapon users.  Bounty Hunters should be very rare too, or at least good ones.

Also, the game needs to be alot more team based if you want to go and do something.  I admit it has airs of it but it really needs to create better party combat and it should be necessary to go out in a group on any planet, otherwise you are dead. There aren't enough intermediate creatures either, it's either very easy or very hard.

But then as Tyshalle said, we are but a minority and our voices shant be heard no matter how much we shout lest there is an act of God.

I was a SWG addict for a long time. Luckily for me I stayed off the boards (talk about negativity) and had a good group to hang out with. We took the game for what it was and hunted and leveled taking our time to accomplish our goals. We participated in the GCW as much as was possible   and tried to figure out how Jedi was going to be implemented by the dev team.

Then came the hologrind....yes I blame the implementation of Jedi (whom shouldn't exist at all in this timeframe) for the ruination of the game. Our guild seperated because they became nothing but robots endlessly grinding away to achieve the "end game" of Jedi. Well, that's exactly what it accomplished the end of the game at least for me.

Once my profession was reached (master bh) I realized there was nothing more to do I was completely borked as a profession and could barely beat a nuna one on one. My droids didn't work and Jedi popped up all over. We were all but defenseless against high lvl Jedi yet were told that our profession was to be thier "population control".

I still have an account on eclipse that I use on occasion with a PVP flavor of the month template. I can earn more money and defeat more things in game as a melee profession than I ever could ranged. You ever hear the saying don't bring a knife to a gunfight? Throw that out the window in this game....

I think the thing that ticks me off about SWG more than anything else is I love star wars heck grew up with it, and SWG although it has so much potential well, quite frankly isn't star wars at all. Its everquest with a space theme.

I played SWG for a loong time and I played it for what it was.  And truthfully it is a pretty solid game at it's core but yes.. HOLO GRINDING ruined all future of that game.  Who in thier right mind says....

"Rifleman, Bounty Hunter, Creature Handler, Chef.... CHEF!?!!  Well thats me!!"

comon.. they placed holocrons to force people to do the dumbest proffesions...

Anyway  MXO and SWG have something in common.. The inherit hype of movie based games which will boast some popularity and give some initial hoop-la.. But at the core the game has to be solid and polished.. lets hope MXO pulls through for us all.

5. Give the game a third dimension. Sure, the game LOOKS like there's more than one dimension, but there really is no up or down. A third dimension would give the game so much more. Jumping would be in the game, and with jumping, you can have speeders that could go up, or Jet Packs. I know Jet Packs are on their way, but they're not going to add a third dimension to the game. Imagine if you will, what combat would be like if you could jet pack your ass on top of a building, and start firing at people that way.

Can't wait to hyperjump on a building and do that in MxO

I'm a total frickin rock star from mars.
C'mon bro, I got tiger blood.

Zink, are you saying this topic should be closed? If so, my bad, but since the topic isn't locked and still postable, Im assuming you are talking about something else.

I bought the game the week it came out and played it from July through October pretty regularly. I enjoyed it for quite some time, but like most people, it became old. For me, there wasn't that much of a challenge. I was able to become a master dancer or whatever the hell it was called within a week through a simple macro that I made. I left the game on while I went away on vacation and by the time I came home, I had all the experience I needed. Later, I got bored and became a master medic basically the same exact way.

I will say this. It was damn fun to have a female character. I was actually doing a research paper on the difference between male and female gaming when I created my account, so I decided to become a female character in the name of science. Within a week, male players had given me so much money and items that I had absolutely no problem doing or buying whatever I wanted. And I got an A on the paper, which was even more important :)

I finally sold my account and the game in November since I needed the money so badly. I don't regret it at all because there honestly was nothing left for me to do that I hadn't already done. I have mastered a few professions, I had built my character up, and all that was left to do was run around and kill shit. What fun...

And what are holocrons? I must have gotten out of the game before those were implemented or maybe I just don't know the lingo.

Dude, you definately need to tone it down abit with your creative metaphor language, in your attempt to use cussword to "emphazie your point" you sorta go over the deep end, and it downgrades the FA community, aswell as yourself.

I hate when people always start to egg on the grinders. So what? They put in the time, why should they not reap in the reward? And to say that they don't have a life is...just dumb. And to always be egging on the teenagers is simlarly dumb. There are *plenty* of imamture 30 year olds walking around in games trying to exert and excersise their authority in a gaming artificial world, because in the real world they have none. No one is trying to say that you shouldn't be able to play or anything, but in the 5 minutes that you put in a month, why should you even be complaining about grinding, and or grinders? Of course I've never played SWG, and from all of the ratings I never will, so all I can assume is off of what people tell me.

Sorry to seem as if I'm attacking anybody specifically, and I know that grinding sucks, and that the game, any game for that matter, should be tailored to the fact that it should also reward or atleast in some way help out the people "with lives" or with jobs, and can't be powergaming totally all of the time. People always seem to hate on powergamers, and I know myself that it can get frustrating when you seem to try and there's always someone out there who's tried harder then you, but that's the way it always is. That's life. I still think that if people actually try in a game that they'll succede, atleast ot the extent of their effort.

And to Tyshalle, man, seriously cut down on the dick measurng, ass fucking, this one is immature, that one is immature bullcrap. It's depressing to come on here and read that shit man....no one wants to read that shit! Atleast respect your peers enough to show some sense of decorum.
