It's already been said, but I'll reiterate: if they won't listen to you, make them. Get the school newspaper involved, but don't stop there. Go to the city newspaper, and try to get them on your side. Convince them that the story will affect a good number of their readers and they'll practically have to write on it. Get as much publicity to your protest as possible... print out flyers, talk to people, talk to reporters, see if you can get the TV news involved, especially if you're holding a rally or a lecture on this. Keep bugging the council until you get what you want. It's how lobbyists make their living.

. Just reading it made my blood boil. I hate it when militaristic conformism is forced on us for "our betterment" you're in college are you not? You and your fellow students are not children... and it's about time you showed them so.
