Is there a way to upload an avatar image or somehow direct to a custom avatar? I think I may have missed this option somewhere.

go up to the top of the forum thread and click on "profile" there is a section there that says "link to ouside avatar" or something like that. you have to upload the pic you want to a host site (www.photobucket.com works wonders), then just put the link there and you're good to go. same goes for your sig, but we have matching sigs we use on the official forums, and in here as well (although it's optional on these forums); you can get that sig from beleev, there is a thread for it called "dog tags:revisited" or something similar. the only difference with putting your sig on your profile is that you need to make sure you do it in two places: profile up top and then "residual self image" to the left. one of them overrides the other and i can never remember which, so it's best to just put the same on both.
