Companions
I always enjoyed this feature in other Bioware games. I have no complaints about the companions. Every hero needs a side kick. LoL!
Actually the system works great, it can help bring a group play style to the solo player.
Crew Skills
The crew skills bring a whole new way of looking at MMO crafting systems. We all know that the driving force behind a games economics is, crafting, epic gear sales, market sales, resource sales etc. For me as a player, I always hated the countless hours of crafting something to make credits, gold or money. With this system in place, I can continue my characters growth within the game while ordering my companions to do it for me, that brings a whole new element for the "non-crafting" type of player to actually enjoy the game in its entirety. My only complaint is that I can only set 1 item to craft on each companion. If I was able to set let's say 10 items to create with a 10 minute timer I would be happier but all in all, I like the system but it needs some tweaking.
Flashpoints
I only tested a few flashpoints during my testing time and I really like the diverse options and group choices within the flashpoints. Just like any MMO, flashpoints are your dungeon or instance with a goal to obtain some gear, to kill a certain boss or to add more to the storyline. I really enjoyed this content when comparing it to other MMO's. With the story behind it, it adds a element of purpose. Unlike many of SWTOR's predecessors, dungeons and instances didn't mean anything more than getting better gear or loot if you will.
Guild
To be honest, I did not really mess around with the guild functions to much, just used it mainly to see who was online at the time. based on when I have seen it is probably very similar to other MMO's guild management functions.
I will say this though, it is not so much about the guild features it is about the guild. This was my very firsts experience playing with FA and I do have to say I personally got the feeling that everyone has the "No man left behind" attitude when it comes to guild members. When we were grouping, hunting down datacrons etc, or just plan needed info, it was a guild effort to help everyone out that was online and I honor that.
Space Combat
Space combat, well where do I start. I don't think I can give a proper evaluation on this, I flew two solo escort missions and I felt like I was playing a 3D version of the old game on Atari called Asteroids. Fly side to side, shoot at things and that was about it. I am not sure if there are other elements to space combat that I am not aware of but what I played was kind of boring.
General MMO Mechanics
The mechanics feel just like any other MMO, same type of controls etc.
Customization
This area I was a little disappointed in. I am a type of person that likes uniqueness, I want my character to be a little different. I don't like running into my long lost twin in A Galaxy Far, Far Away. When dealing with customization I feel that everyone likes to look different then the next guy. Having preset options makes things limited unlike having advanced slider options to change the complete structure of your character. This is not a game changer for me, game play, story and community is what I am looking for.
Grouping
This was an awesome feature, especially when turning in quest, story line etc. Not only do you get to be part of the conversation but so does your group members. Holocalls were great too! Your group didn't have to wait around for you to catch up to during in quest, one push of a button and you got dialed into the conversation. Grouping experience was fantastic. The story driven quest of a single play aspect brought into an MMO experience, can't wait for Dec 20.
Overall Experience
I had fun, I enjoyed the story, the complete voice acting and the interaction was great. From what I have played and tested so far, I honestly feel that this could very well be my last MMO.
I am already having game withdrawals , I have not been this way for a game in a long time. I guess it is time to invest in a IV drip machine and a bed pan.
