Embedding Videos on the Forums
« on: November 29, 2006, 03:40:04 pm »
I've turned on the ability to embed video from YouTube and such into forum posts. However there are a few rules that I would like to see respected:

1. No Auto-Play Videos - Some members browse the forums at work, have limited connections, or just might not want to watch a video. No video should play automatically.

2. Only the following HTML tags are permitted:
Code: [Select]
<iframe> <object> <embed> <param> <s>
Sample code should look something like:
Code: [Select]
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-IGug--fRUQ" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Or
Code: [Select]
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="blah"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="blah" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
3. No embedded code should break or make any part of the website nonfunctional - This should be very obvious.

4. Preview your post before submitting - Use the preview button to make sure your HTML works and doesn't break any rules.

Feel free to ask questions.

The code you use is next to the video on YouTube you just copy paste and it. So you don't need to fill in anything manually.

P.S. - "movie" is an attribute of the HTML tag, video URLs will be what I labeled as "blah" again YouTube provides the premade code with URLs

FYI, youtube's default embed code now uses iframe which doesn't work.  You can "Use old embed code" but some people will most likely miss it.
