Broin Needs Help
« on: February 27, 2010, 05:34:53 pm »
Okay so I'm having some issues with my IPOD.  I'm needing to get the photos on there downloaded and saved to the computer before I take it back to factory specs and reinstall everything.  I have some on there that I don't have on the computer anymore and I don't want to lose them.

I found this thing...

http://www.copytrans.net/

And it will let me do it, but the thing is it puts a stupid watermark on them.  Any help would be appreciated.

Go ahead, make my day.

Plugging in your iPod should create a temporary drive. Go to "My Computer" and look for the drive. It should be labeled something Apple or iPod related. From there you should be able to browse the folders and find one with your photos. From there you can just drag them. That's how my iPhone works, anyway. I imagine an iPod wouldn't be much different, though I haven't loaded photos onto my iPod nano.

Yeah I've tried that but it just pulls it up like it is a camera but I can't get to the pictures at all.  No folders to search...

Damnit... Would like to get this figured out tonight.

Go ahead, make my day.

I'd make sure that your computer can see hidden folders and files just on the off chance that the photos are stored in a hidden folder on your ipod.

Yeah, when I had an old iPod, I remember the trick was to view the hidden folders that aren't shown by default in the iPod directory.

No, iPods will not allow you to access them to view its files or even copy/download any of those files back onto a computer. The theory is if you could do that, you could download a ton of music and put it on all your friends' computers so they don't buy them from iTunes or anywhere else. Luckily many people out there offer solutions. You need a third party software to allow you to do any of that. On Windows, I used one called ephpod. It's totally free and quite easy.

www.ephpod.com

download that and you can then pull any files off of it. ;)

(If for some reason that one doesn't work, there are a bunch out there. Just google something like "ipod to computer" or something)

Ah, nothing like hacking into overpriced hardware.

Perhaps you could try a Zune?

Zune's are ok.  The music subscription thingy is pretty neat.  The OS is pretty slick.  I <3 my iPhone though.  <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
