Timezones For N00bs (A Reference)
« on: June 24, 2007, 03:06:53 pm »
Confused about the time of an event?  Wonder no further...

Everything having to do with MxO development takes place on the west coast, which is Pacific Standard Time or "PST".  Pacific time is the clock on which MxO runs.  So when a liaison or player refers to "Mega City Time" or "MCT", this is just the RP way of saying "Pacific Time".

Through the power of the interwebs, I've discovered a map that you can use as a reference if you are unsure of an announced time.

If an event is said to take place at 2pm PST (or MCT), this means that the event will take place at 5pm if you live in Florida.

Keep in mind that "FA Time" is just another way of saying "Central Time".  Central time is two hours ahead of Pacific time, so FA time is two hours ahead of Mega City Time.

Through more powers of the interwebs, I've discovered that there are countries besides America.

I've sent a letter to the Associated Press to inform them of this development.  I'm sure it's going to be big news.  :p

Personally I would be happier if the world just ran off of GMT, no time zones to switch during plane trips, etc. And we just adjust our schedule as we move around the world.

BTW, even straight lined time zone would be a hassle, there is a little town on the Washington/Idaho border, you can let your cell phone autoswitch time, because you bounch time zones, and plenty of the people work in Washington and live in Idaho. (The town mostly operates on Pacific Coast time.)

London = PST + 8 Hrs
Madrid = PST + 9 Hrs (if you play with Pos)
Berlin = PST + 9 Hrs (if you play on the Euro server)
Helsinki = PST + 10 Hrs
Moscow = PST + 11 Hrs
Chennai = PST + 11.5 Hrs
Hong Kong = PST + 16 Hrs
Sydney = PST + 18 Hrs

I recommend having an alt on Recursion if you want to participate in events without having to wait on other people's convenience.

Can someone sticky this thread?
