The surgery went well.  I had an artery that was stretched over the top of my ureter (the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder) and was pinching it shut.  I'm staying at my parents' house for a couple days in case anything goes wrong.

I convinced my mom to play camera man while I was getting ready to go in.  I just took a look at the footage of me coming out of the anesthesia and it's pretty funny.  My plan is to splice it up and put it up on YouTube.

You know they're giving you good drugs when all of your nurses look like Weird Al Yankovich.  

I'm not sure when I'll be able to go home.  I'm still in quite a bit of pain.  Just wanted to check in with you guys to let you know I'm still alive.

You're probably familiar with the term laparoscopic surgery.

The surgeon explained everything as I was coming out of the anesthesia, so I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly.  He said something about cutting the ureter, repositioning it elsewhere so that it wouldn't get pinched, and then re-connecting it.

I have what's called a "JP Drain" coming out of my back that I'll have removed on Wednesday.  Then I should be good to go home and get to work collecting all the anniversary content.
