CR2.0 Abilities/Builds Discussion
« on: March 29, 2006, 03:21:05 am »
Use this thread to discuss abilities and builds in CR2.0. What are the good abilities? What are the good builds?

A few pointers... Make sure you have all your possible buffs activated. Several "styles" and "buffs" must be activated once you login or after you die. Even more annoying, some styles have to be reactivated after you hit a hardline. Make sure you've got everything you should have in your buffer bar.

Attributes are everything now. Study them.

Accuracy is somewhat important, but don't get bogged down in a point or two. It's all about DPS (damage per second) now, so choose those abilities and buffs with high DPS and damage bonuses, and make sure to get as much damage resistance as possible.

Builds are a lot more tempermental now. Don't expect to find an uber build that will allow you to take on several foes at once. Pick the best dueling build you can and choose your fights wisely.

I'm currently working out my MKT build, which is working rather well. Out of stealth, I can repeatedly root for 8 secs while Severing Artery (decreasing movement speed) for 30 secs. While alternating these, I hit with a decently high DPS (sever artery does damage overtime as well) and can slowly just knife away my opponent. The only downside is that this uses a lot of IS, and so I have to keep my IS regen up. In stealth (which is basically a support mode), I can get close enough to use a very high DPS knife that keeps me out of interlock and deals around 1200 damage. I've fought in a few duels and only lost to Broin, a hacker. I think once I complete my viral resistance clothing, I'll stand a better chance.

As a coder I felt it finally appropriate to start unleashing my "mini zerg"

As a Utility Master I have found that I can hold my own against anyone regardless of their build. There is a catch, the reason for this is that I have a hacker sim at my side both using a machine gun and area hacks while I interlock and use melee attacks. With 3 different attacks at once, no matter what, I'm going to hit and eventually wear down my opponent. Some upsides to this class are obviously the extra "man" who can either be a hacker for full offensive capabilities or a patcher for max health buff and heals.

In pvp I have found the class to be more suited for holding a defensive position and during raids as a support class with minor hacking capability and decent melee ability (I have recorded upwards of 900 damage with Bash against well armored martial artists)

Disadvantages:
-Not very mobile, sims can't hyperjump nor do they have hyperspeed.
-Sims are not the brightest. It can be hard to get them out of interlock short of deleting them as well for patcher sims, they don't always realize when you're getting killed.
-Other coders have an ability called proxy coder (i have it as well) which instantly kill sims.

Stats:
Belief 30 (high melee resistance, high melee accuracy)
Perception 5 (low ballistic defense, low ballistic damage)
Reason 16 (medium thrown defenses, medium viral accuracy)
Focus 30 (high melee damage, high ballistic resistance, high ballistic accuracy)
Vitality 8 (nothing determinate)
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

1st Preliminary Report:  PvP near Mara C. last night.[/b]

Build:[/b]  Full Awakened / Full Sniper / Full Rifleman (nothing else loaded)

Clothing:[/b]  Pants / Jacket / Shirt (approx. 115-125 MDR / BDR)
                  Seraphim shoes
                  Torturers Gloves
                  Sparkling Fedora

First thing I noticed about this build was that it just slightly overpowered (not complaining) which is why I saw a lot of people using it last night.  Your first and second shots (if they hit, which 90% of mine did) can bring most level 50's to just below half health (avg. damage in first shot ranged from 650 - 860)(more if they don't have enough BDR)  This can give you a sizeable advantage because of the snipers ability to shot from greater distances and while in sneak(ish) mode; by the time the player finds you he's already half dead and from there you just use rifleman specials to keep him at bay.

Obviously others have already caught onto this so for the next day or so you'll probably see nothing but snipers and riflemen in pvp until someone comes along with a better build and others copy it as well.

Knifers have a very similar technique by using the sneak knife (staggering throw, I believe). Only difference is you have to be closer to your target than sniper.
