Just want to give a heads up to everyone that there someone is sending out PM's asking if "this" is you. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK! They are trojans. They show up as jpg.exe files.

Wielder of Truth sent 2 to me today. I think I may have said something to him to upset him at the beginning of live...I really don't remember, I know it was something to do with the challenge and I wouldn't give an answer to him.

Just a heads up...this is how they've started to get even ???

lol. cuz we're that fucking dumb. did it occur to him that anyone with the capacity to complete OR CREATE the challenge for that matter is maybe a little too smart to fall for this script kiddie shit? ya gotta love it, lol.

If people resort to out of MxO attacks to get back at someone, that's pretty bad (not as bad as the woman cutting off the guys dick, but this is still bad). Even a lame attempt as this was, it still goes to show what some people will do if you piss them off, if even unintentionally. What a crazy world we live in...

Wait ... PMs where? Over AIM, Wielder of Truth is AcidicPlague, and I really doubt he'd purposely be sending out any trojans to anyone. There are a ton of AIm viruses going around, and there is a general fix, but it requires some tinkering. I found this site when a friend had a problem with random IMs going out with a link: http://www.jayloden.com/check.htm That link does an AIM sweep to look for a ton of JUNK and gets rid of most of it. Anything else would need to be cleaned out by Ad-Aware or a registry cleaner. Otherwise, if it's something over the forums or through /tells, the only power we have is to /CCR it. =/

If it was acidic I'm sorry hun, I'll go run and hide from embarrassment, but I'm using Trillian....and the name came through as WeilderofTruth@thematrixonline.com, Please Acidic let me know if this is you because I'm getting spammed by that name on both my matrixonline.com account and my regular name and also a name that nobody knows about yet. Every 2 hours or so another pm pops up with the same thing in it.  If anyone tries to pm me you won't get through I've turned off Trillian til I get a few answers. :)

Unfortunately if the messages continue I"m gonna have to /ccr it because its getting ridiculus.

I'm just glad norton got it :)

Is it still spamming you?  It should not be.  My sister was on my computer and clicked the link that somebody sent me when she was on her AIM account.  She flipped out and signed off AIM.. It's been screwing with my computer all day long..  

I thought I removed it.  It's one nasty bugger - and you are definately not the only one to get spammed from the ghost me :(.  I didnt even realize they were being sent out until I had people start bitching at me.  Then right after that it downloaded INCREDIBLE amounts of spyware.  To be honest, I think I was kind of amazed at the amount of spyware it installed in such a short time period.  I think I got something over 1000 different ones that just beat my computer up into submission.

load up into SAFE MODE and run the removal tools.
If a program is in memory when you remove it, it will more than likely recreate itself.

I tried logging onto AIM again and it started to try and spam you again lel.  I'm going to stay off AIM until I have this fixxed - but I'm not sure what the hell is making it happen.  I've loaded up safe mode and ran Spy Sweeper ((which has always gotten everything)) and then ran norton and it said it got everything.  Then I rebooted and did both again in safe mode to be sure, then when I came back into normal mode everything started recreating theirselves again.

And it's coming through as WeilderofTruth@thematrixonline.com? Hehe that's strange, I dont have a character named WielderofTruth - but it was definately coming from me because I noticed your name would pop up before I closed the client.

buddy list trojan, lots of my friends had it last week, it spreaded out like the F-Virus from end of beta.

like one said "is this you?"

 and "hey check out these pics from this party" or something like that...lelyel is talkin bout the first one...

but yeah i never click on links without highlighting them...some show up as mypics.com as the file.


edit::: yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i should read the whole thread first...

*rubs eyes, yawns* hi acidic well after 3 days of trying to get rid of that stupid thing I finally managed to do so, cept I haven't turned on Trillian yet :) So if you guys have something important to get to me either pm it here or email me.
