I'm on vacation, lol. Sorry if my days are a bit off, :P

Non-VR Games / SWTOR beta withdrawls?
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:14:24 am »
Seeing as how I'm not in Beta testing, can someone on Beta list the EST pvp/pve servers? I know we'll most likely be assigned one, just wondering what the different names are.

Non-VR Games / Phase 3 Started: Finalize your guild now
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:09:03 am »
"Last month we expanded our Pre-Launch Guild Program with the implementation of Phase 2: Alignment, where guilds could designate other guilds as allies or adversaries. Now, as Star Wars: The Old Republic moves ever-closer to launch, we are excited to announce that we have initiated the first part of Phase 3: Deployment!

Phase 3: Deployment will see any guild that meets the pre-designated criteria be transferred into the game for launch. Before we begin this process, though, we want to give all of you who are in guilds the opportunity to make sure your guild meets the following requirement for transfer:

Four members of the guild must have pre-ordered the game and redeemed their Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center.

(NOTE: We have removed the additional requirement for the guild leader to log in to the website and verify that their guild remains active and wants to be imported.)

To help clear up any confusion as to whether or not your guild is ready for deployment, we have now given each guild page a small status indicator. This indicator will show you the number of people in your guild who have pre-ordered the game, and will inform you whether or not your guild meets the criteria for deployment into the game
."

And we're good to go,  :D

Non-VR Games / Re: Trying to find a class to play is harder than it looks..

Well, I plan on making a JK as soon as early access lets me in. Sadly, I'm not making plans of seeing the game in beta. And like it was mentioned above, "I'd recommend going with what you love".

Non-VR Games / FA Raiding System
« on: March 30, 2011, 02:12:27 pm »
Back in TBC, the guild I was in had a DKP system and I was Raid Leader/ Off Tank. On various ocassions I passed on items for the Main Tank and a pally tank we were gearing up for the Morogrim Tidewalker encounter. I passed on them not just because it benefited the overall guild and our progress, but because I had been a Main Tank and I know know what it's like to MT for hours and leave empty handed. Anyway, after a few weeks all the officers talked to me regarding my points and the fact that, according to them, I was hoarding them. It was not true and since they actually wanted me to bid, I did so when the T5 shoulders dropped in TK, even though the MT needed them more (I had no other choice and they actually cooled off afterwards).

Whether it's Loot Council or DKP you will still have drama. With Loot Council there will be people shouting favoritism and with dkp there will also be people spouting nonsense. Players that are selfish and neglect the benefit of the whole guild, and place themselves first.

In the end, I'll just go along with whatever is decided.

Well, I liked them all. I loved the Sentinel set and I don't have problems with big shoulders. Actually, back in WoW raiding my dkp points always went first to shoulders.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I just finished applying on SWTOR.com. Same name that I have here.

P.s: Very nice of Bioware to do this set up for guilds.

News and Announcements / Re: Crafting and PvP in SWTOR

SWTOR seems to be working the same way - you can queue up PvP matches from anywhere in the game universe and then it just spawns you in when it is ready. I don't really like this method, as it really breaks the immersion. How did I get on Alderon? What's beyond these walls? I guess it makes life easier, but it doesn't seem as rewarding as getting your team together and flying to the planet and adventuring to the PvP area.

As enjoyable as that might be, it brings with it a bunch of problems. Sure it's cool if you and your group do it, but will the rest of the players do it? With Instancing you can make your way there and queue up, while somebody in Tython can also meet up and fight with/against you.

Like Paitryn said: "Problem games have seen is getting enough players to fulfill those zones without one faction being stronger than another. hence instancing for balance and challenge. plus they can go multiserver so it fills up faster."

This completely destroyed the process you had to go through to find a group for either BGs or dungeons, but few people complained about the loss of nostalgia because instead of spamming trade chat for other group members, now you let the ui do it for you. Another way Blizzard has nerfed the game and made it easier for casuals.

I used to play hardcore, but eliminating a 4 HOUR wait time is not catering to the casuals. This was an improvement to WoW, not a hindrance.

They talked about how in PvP you'd earn tokens that you can use to buy "PvP gear" that lets people know you are cool. I just don't know...PvP being reduced to token gathering.

Tokens used for PvP and PvE is one of the best ideas Blizzard developed. Anybody that played since vanilla will have good memories and will probably complain about how the game has changed, but tokens were necessary. It was ridiculous to do Molten Core or Blackwing Lair for weeks or months only to NEVER get your drop, because either it didn't drop or somebody bid more, etc.

With Tokens you are rewarded by each boss you kill or each player kill. The developers have increased the number of tokens, therefore increasing the number of people getting Tier Gear. This is an excellent choice by the Bioware team.

Yeah, they might have something like wintergrasp, but something feels dirty about PvPing in an "open world area" that has huge signs everywhere that say, "If you are a carebear you are in the wrong place! You might, possibly, get hurt or even killed by other players in this zone! You should probably leave!"

As fun as that may be, "open world" pvp is about the ability to attack or be attacked by the opposing faction at any time. Bioware wants this game to be accesible to the majority of gamers, both hardcore and casuals. Having a gank fest everywhere every time you reach a major city, etc is not fun. Eventually it will be annoying.

Sorry for the long rant. Just my .02
