News and Announcements / Re: Space Combat Video« on: August 23, 2010, 09:37:25 pm »
At first upon seeing the vid I was disappointed. I, as we all were, was expecting an awesome free-flying thing akin to SWG, but despite my expectations I'm not entirely let down. It looks sleek, fluid, fun and as far as tunnel shooters go, not that bad. I'm still looking forward to it, even if I'll be hearing Peppy shouting "DO A BARREL ROLL" in my mind the entire time.

Agreed. It somewhat reminds me of PN03... You know, that Capcom game that nobody knows anything about or has ever played, except seemingly me and about 3 friends. 5

Awesome intro, and a very great job Yotogi! I'm also seeing these black dots, but they're not severe enough to annoy me at all.

General / Re: The Order of Libertas« on: July 30, 2010, 01:53:04 am »
I like it too, very simplistic. I actually have a few questions regarding Libertas, so I'll go ahead and ask them here. I joined the Libertas squad back when we were hyping up for APB, but I see it's been changed to an Order for swtor. I haven't been active on the forums for a bit, so I was just wondering if I'm still considered a member. Also, and I'm sure there's a topic regarding this that I'll find tomorrow, but how are we doing the whole squad thing in SWTOR? I assume it's the same concept with the theme of an "order" instead? Sorry for the incessant ignorance here, I just have to get back into the loop somehow.

Off Topic / I'm Back! (Hopefully)« on: July 30, 2010, 01:45:45 am »
Hey everyone, sorry it's been so long since I was remotely active, my life has been super busy and I simply forgot to check in. Between school, piano recitals (oh so many piano recitals), family and life in general I've just been totally preoccupied. I've also not really had the funds to support my obsessive gaming, but I just nabbed a job at Larry's Pizza so I can start getting back into the MMO scene as soon as I get that first paycheck. Thanks Tbone for the email in which you reminded me that I hadn't posted anything in over a month, and I plan to be much more active starting asap! I'd get on teamspeak again but sometime last year my mom misplaced the headset I was using with my laptop, which she had stolen to skype with my dad in Iraq, so until I can buy a new one I'll just have to stick to the forums.
I look forward to chatting with everyone again, and to meeting all the new guys (/girls?), and if you wanna hit me up on Live my gamertag is also Orphaeus, just mention the FA when you friend me. See you guys around. 9
Non-VR Games / Re: What« on: July 30, 2010, 01:36:16 am »
I'm undecided for the moment, but still leaning mostly towards Smuggler. Of course I can be whatever is needed too, I'm pretty flexible.

I love both of them, but my preference goes to the second. The "I think" makes it sound a little more mysterious, I have no problem with it.

I read something about this in Gameinformer but I completely forgot about it until now. Thanks so much for posting this here, I'm totally signing up for it.

Off Topic / Red Dead Redemption« on: May 14, 2010, 07:46:11 pm »
Anyone with their nose in the gaming world's business has heard of Rockstar's new masterpiece, Red Dead Redemption. It's release is on the 18th here in the US, and I'm planning to wait in line for my copy. If you want info on the game itself you can check out their website, which I"m not linking to just to save you the google search. My question to the FA regards the game's multiplayer, and a feature called "posses". Posses are essentially "parties" in any other game, and I'll draw comparisons from GTA4 to illustrate them.
The Multiplayer of this game works through an optional branch of the game called "Free-Roam". In free roam you can play it solo and just dick around as you would in, say, a free roam multiplayer game type in GTA4. This is elaborated upon more on their website. Basically in free roam you can join a posse with up to 7 of your friends, and you can just mess around in free roam or you can compete with other posses online. I've not done much research on this branch of the game, but it sounds like Rockstar has streamlined this party-based competitive system beyond annoying lobby menus and such. Normally I would expect a game like this with competitive multiplayer to be purchased by players for the single player experience and then taken online just for fun, much like Bioshock 2 was for me, but surprisingly the competitive multiplayer is already being taken very seriously by various forums, and I even found a proboards page dedicated to Red Dead's competitive multiplayer, with scheduled tournaments and everything. I'll get to the point here. Highly active and competitive multiplayer in a team-based setting is exactly what we here at the FA can appreciate, and so I thought I would mention this to everyone here on the forums and see what sort of attention it garners. Does anyone plan to get this game, and if so would you be interested in pursuing, however seriously, the creation of an FA posse and maybe some participation in these informal tournaments or something? I'll let you guys run with the idea from here, I just think it would be something to consider. And while I have you here on the topic of Xbox Live, I'll throw in this tidbit. My gamertag is Orphaeus and I'm on Live pretty frequently. I know I have a few of you on my friends list, but to those of you I haven't added yet please feel free to throw me a line. If you're ever interested in playing anything with someone, I'll usually be more than happy to tag along. 14
General / Darkfall? APB? Vote!« on: May 14, 2010, 07:09:31 pm »
Honestly I'm apathetic towards both. The reason I've been so inactive here on the boards is because nothing the group is doing really interests me until SWTOR comes out. Darkfall was fun, but I know that, despite the changes made to it, if I re-sub I will just be getting more of the same, which was enough to drive me to inactivity the last time (which, if anyone recalls, got my FA membership revoked due to overall inactivity, haha).
So if I remove Darkfall as an option then that leaves me with really only one way to connect with you guys outside of these forums, and that is APB. The game itself looks awesome and I will definitely be giving it a shot, but their business model gives me the strong urge to strangle someone. As this point I would say it looks unlikely that I will really stick to that one for long, if at all. So until SWTOR comes out it looks like I'll just be sticking to my Xbox. I just bought Borderlands, and Red Dead comes out in a few days, not to mention the awesome lineup of new releases Xbox gamers are expecting this year. I'd like to hear more about the new DF, but it will have to be much over-hyped if I'm going to be talked back into paying for it again. 15

I heard about this too and wanted to check it out but simply never bothered. Thanks for posting it here, I'll definitely check both of them out more thoroughly. I still play WC3 frequently, and I've never really fully grasped the concept of DotA so I stay away from it. The community that plays it now expects pros, and I've honestly been too afraid to jump in with them and learn, haha. If either of these works out for me then I'll re-post with my username, which will inevitably be Orphaeus there as well. Hopefully this will yeild better results than my DotA experiences have so far.
