Thanks for the input, and I'm happy you pointed that out. I might not support any further kickstarters from here on out considering how sketchy the donations were for WalkOVR.

Hey guys!
I know everyone is hyped out about Rift S and Quest but if you aren't looking for an upgrade in HMD, but maybe an upgrade on how immersive your experience can get, then now is a good time to look into the WalkOVR! Live on kickstarter! link to the kickstarter is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/walkovr/walkovr-worlds-most-compatible-locomotion-system-f Here's where you can see what types of platforms and games are supported: https://www.walkovr.com/games/ 6

General / Re: Mixcast: A real-time solution to showcase VR apps through Mixed Reality« on: September 30, 2018, 10:11:04 am »
Yes, there's a limit to how many games are compatible, but I hope they improve on this aspect since I spent several days on trying to make their non-sdk game titles to work for MixCast 2.0 without success. Not to mention that certain approved vr titles did not display very well. I am guessing that the "gold titles" are the best ones for MixCast.
The way this program works is that it uses a "background removal" tool that takes a snap shot of your background with your external camera to remove it and replace with the VR title's screen. The setup video explains more about how that's done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z60H8nSbpHQ 8

If anyone was doing recordings/video streaming of their experiences with VR Apps, I just found out about the new Mixcast program that was demonstrated in this year's VR/AR Association summit in Vancouver, CA.
https://mixcast.me/#games The program is compatible with most of the PC HMDs available in the market right now including HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. I think it's definitely worth the try if anyone likes presenting their games to the masses. 10

General / Oculus Connect 5 - San Jose, CA« on: August 31, 2018, 11:20:03 am »
Hello, is anyone living in CA area that would be interested in attending the Oculus Connect 5 conference? I have the registration code for it, but I'm not sure if I can make it because of the flight ticket expense, and all hotels near the convention center are full. It's a two day event from September 26 to 27.

Hey Tbone,
I'm not sure if this is what you would go for, but most of these "tester" jobs want someone with some understanding of coding with the exception of a few that I found like this one: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/senior-game-qa-tester-at-legends-of-learning-785148667/?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_inshare%3B8OSp9CIZTfSOnaFO1LNFzQ%3D%3D I've found a lot of interesting job roles in that area. Some are related to the military, or require top secret clearance. Some are looking for a person who has years of experience in gaming entertainment...Not sure what's your style, but it looks like a lot of decent opportunities there as well. I would definitely get into some of the jobs I've seen there once I get more fluent with 3D Unity. 15

Tbone,
What area are you in? I mean, I'm pretty sure all these VR developer jobs are also in need of some QA testers. Would you be interested in learning some Unity 3d? I'm learning it right now to create a few apps of my own. |
