Just wanted to confirm my slot.

As you know, I can also heal as needed. Though, I'd prefer to gear for DPS.

Can tank too if reqd. Would rather dps.

NoCry, I'm just going to say it. Be prepared to tank. We've been so short on them lately. :(

Not to worry. I actually (kinda) tanked a HM last night as an infil shadow. Think I will respect as full shadow tank but keep collecting stalker gear to go with my growing survivor gear collection.

well im on track for a lvl 50 vanguard so by this weekend with at least lvl 50 starter gear which is better than any tank we have had so far hopefully we can get 2 other healers so i can switch and end our tanking woes
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on February 21, 2012, 07:09:15 am
Similar situation here NoCry... I'd rather DPS but I'm basically one of our two main healers right now, it seems. I don't mind healing, but I'd love to get some DPS gear going too.
:)

In fact, EE... I can be considered a main healer this weekend if you'd like. The thing is, im more geared as a healer now than i ever was for DPS. This last weekend really got my chracter geared up.

So, one more healer and we should be solid, as you've said.

Also, maybe we can get you some decent tank gear quickly. we could run a few hard modes with some good DPS and probably have no issues even with some orange gear and decent mods.

A few of those hard modes and with a little luck, and you may have a solid tank ready for EV.

Logged off last night 1 bar off 45 target im looking at is

Tuesday 46
Wednesday 47
Thursday 48
Friday 50
that leaves saturday morning to do HM's before the raid but I already have a few lvl 50 mods/armour/enhancements already waiting on K'lia which I got using commendations so they can be traded over plus im full shield spec and have leveled like this all the way through so im used to the mechanics of the tanking build.  If anything I'll be on a par with Nocry who tanked for us on our 1st run in pvp damage gear.  The week after i'll be pretty geared up judging by the need for tanks i'll be jumping from HM to HM.

Once we have a stable heal and tank team we can maybe look at attempting HM but i'd like to down Soa at least once in Normal mode first.  Maybe if we manage it this weekend in a good enough time we can start Hard Mode and just clear the 1st boss as that will give us a good indication of how we will fair for the following week.

My intention is to extend the raid nights over to sunday 2pm as well so we can do Karraggas but I think we will focus on getting a regular group first and see where we go from there.

Get doing those HM's people if your around Saturday Morning ill be looking o tank a few and also i'll be up for alot on Sunday.

Also still missing confirmations on this thread and those who have confirmed can you see if you can drag any of your friends in guild into this group if they havent chosen a raid group yet.

TLDR - Need more people, confirmations please in the thread, get running those HM's

You will not be tanking EV as a Infil shadow if i have anything to say about it :) (unless of course im on the rum that night and am up for a challange)

Still awaiting confirmations from

Longboard
Kaplin
Deathspoon

also need the following

1/2 healers
1 Tank
2/3 Dps

to provide a good group with cover.

I was hoping to have my Shadow Tank at 50 by this weekend to help you guys out, but seeing as how I'm 37 right now I don't see that happening.

However, since Group 1 will be starting Hard Modes this week, Tecknik should be clear for Normal Modes.  So put me down as an alternate DPS, if you don't have enough on Saturday or Sunday.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: JazzyC on February 21, 2012, 01:08:23 pm
Can't do the raid at 8pm.  I can start at 9pm.  As stated in the previous thread, this is an issue every other week until probably the end of March.

I do really want to be there, but I just cannot finish earlier on those saturdays.  I will set-up LogMeIn and have myself logged in before I get home, ready for me to jump straight in when my butt hits the chair.

For future reference, the same issue will arise on
Saturday 4th March
Saturday 18th March
It will sporadically occur as and when people go on holiday and I have to cover.

Yes, I am essentially the departments bitch.

Ok so at the meeting Tbone mentioned listing yourself as an alt for raiding.  I don't feel comfortable committing every Saturday but I know I am good for every other Saturday or if you guys need someone.  I am a Commando Gunnery, so as likwid puts it "I melt faces with my DPS."  I am not currently geared but will start running normal modes soon to start leveling it up.
So basically, if you're desperate I'm your man (or woman if you want to get literal)

As a rule, Saturdays at this time are great for me; the kids are in bed and my boss in a different country. Outside chance I will be called to middle east for the weekend - will know on Friday afternoon at the latest.

yeah it is in easy mode but i can always bring teh sage healing if we are struggling.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on February 22, 2012, 12:13:47 pm
Soa will he hard. No bubble or AoE for the drops down. But I think we can handle it if we split the group and focus specific people for each healer first, during the jumps down. Then on the last phase of the boss we'd just have to be aware of who has lightning and top them off.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ExternalError on February 22, 2012, 12:46:26 pm
sage can still bubble in dps mode

Any chance of getting Sunday added to the raid calender?

With 6 people interested, we should try to make it happen.

Also, I noticed that so far noone has signed up for saturday outside of Balance, JazzyC, myself, and likwid.

We have to stay organized or group 3 is never going to get out of normal modes. Come on guys, sign up!

Damn! I thought shacking up with a master would grease the wheels, you know make things easier and provide perks. I guess I'm going to have to deal with reality of the situation. Sooo, likwidtek or FA/raiding, what to choose...

HAHA!

It's ok likwid... if she chooses raiding over you, I'll shack up with you buuuuddy! And things might get interesting since we're both going commando all the time. (I love these commando jokes, seriously.)

My wife probably shouldn't be told about that though. She may get jealous. :P

J/K Jessercas! Please don't kill me, okay?

Just a note for everyone.  The raid for the coming Saturday and Sunday is up on the raid calendar.

At present only 5 people are signed up.  This looks like it'll be our first Hard Mode run, and I doubt any of you want to miss it.

Last week appeared to be some people missed out on the raid because they never signed up, and just assuming they would have an automatic in.  Don't make the same mistake twice.

Currently the Roster lists:
ExternalError
Likwidtek
Jessercas
Jaefeth
JazzyC

Looks to me like we're still missing Longboard, NoCry and Zephic.  Get your names down people!

I can not commit yet, I could if the Greek idiots who are poisoning Europe could actually abide by an agreement. However, at present I am in Greece and likely to be there all weekend....

I might well try it from teh hotel - we shall see...

I'd absolutely love to go on our first hardmode run, however this weekend I'll be celebrating my father's birthday at least on one of those days.

I'd love to have my slot if I'm there, but the best I can do at this time is a "maybe."

I'll try to show up early if I can make either of the weekend raids. I -should- be here for at least one of the two. I'm just not sure which one.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on March 08, 2012, 07:01:38 pm

Sunday I will NOT be available, however.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on March 09, 2012, 11:18:23 pm
I'm having issues changing Saturday to Available and Sunday to cancelled.

I just want to be sure I'm counted as available/attending on Saturday. :) Can't miss this hard mode attempt!

-Also, it looks like we have our 4 DPS and 2 healers all accounted for. We're missing 1 tank, however.

Who'll be our main tank this time? Is Aura supposed to be around for this weekend? I assume Deathsboon won't be available with his recent events, so we need to make sure we'll have a tank who can handle hard modes.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ExternalError on March 11, 2012, 01:27:38 pm
I wont be around running the raid today so you'll need an extra dps and some one will need to step up to lead it, just dont really feel up to it today. good luck.

Post by: JazzyC on March 11, 2012, 02:07:44 pm
I shan't be running tonight either.  I'll be honest and say yesterdays raid took me close to the edge.  I can't do it twice in a row.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread

Alright, so we're going to need two DPS to make this work.  Preferably one being a Smuggler.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on March 12, 2012, 08:29:53 pm
Just a quick note.... Time changed recently in the US and everyone here is now one hour forward.

According to the sign-up page, the raid now starts at 4PM FA time (central.) Is this accurate?

I have to work the morning shift on Saturday the 17th, so I won't be getting out of work until 3PM central. 4PM works great for me this weekend; I just wanted to make sure I'm not an hour late due to a bug in the raid calendar or something. :)

I did not sign up for Saturday but I am signed up for Sunday. That being said, Raid 2 group needed last minute help on Tuesday so I volunteered. In no way was I poached, since I planned on not attending Saturday, I figured it would be cool to help out. If there is not a spot for my Sunday because everyone from Saturday shows back up on Sunday, I will honor them and let them have my Sunday spot. If the Sunday spot is open, I will be there.

Hi All - Thanks for helping out on the 16 man.

One thing, very clearly is that for HM raid (be it 8 or 6), you need a full or at least very decent PVE gear.

Please don't show up for raids in full champion or battle-master gear;) instead - shout at one of the masters till you get a HM flash-point done. I reckon we can carry battle-master geared people in an 8 man normal but no way in a hard-mode.

I think that all of the masters at the moment are running/ participating in as many HM's as possible so please try to gear up a little in advance of the raids.

ta.

So I have finally learned how to make prototype hyper battle stims for reflex, fortitude, and resolve. Unfortunately I have not been farming mats enough as I was leveling so I can't make a bunch yet but I can probably make at least one per person for this weekend. I'll keep working on getting materials so we can have enough for everyone for the whole raid time. Oh yeah, I can also make health packs too!

On Saturday, we cleared the first boss of Denova, figuring out the tactics to it on our own.  We got to the second boss, did a few pulls, but ran out of time before figuring out all the mechanics.

Sunday, we did EV HM up until Soa when we ran out of time.

I don't think any of the Biochem crafters in the guild have received the Exotech Reflex Stim schematic.  I've seen it drop once and there weren't any Biochemists in the group, so...

Your best bet is asking for the Prototype Hyper-Battle Reflex Stims.

As we have 9 people signed up, I figure I can do this and not cause any issues.

Pulling out of the Saturday raid as I'll be spending the day with the girlfriend.
And, as I'm the last one signed up for Sunday, I guess I won't be needed for that either.

So, I hope you get lots of Smuggler gear dropped!

Alright guys.  I am a definite for Saturday at this point, but it's looking like I may not be able to raid on Sunday.  I'm switching from Available to Tentative on Sunday.

So (just an idea) if Nocry wanted to off-tank on Sunday, that would open up a DPS slot for Jazzy or another DPS.

If not that, then if there is another decently geared tank who would like to off-tank and possibly gear up and/or help others gear up?

In doing the new raid, it seems the WeekEnd group is hitting a wall at the first boss encounter.  After no succes with varying YouTube videos, we could use some hands on advice.  Would it be possible for someone who's in the WeekNight group to step in and share the strats with us?

Judging by what the group is wearing, I don't think we're missing a gear check.

We actually did Toth and Zorn backwards the first time we killed them. We had melee on Zorn (hurls rocks and does a frontal cone) and ranged on Toth (close-range AoE). By switching them, we were able to avoid Zorn's nasty cone from accidently hitting the melee on the switch, and only had predictable (and easier managed) damage hitting the melee.

The fight really comes down to the tanks. We take Toth to the far right and the melee stay on him. Zorn goes to the far left and the ranged are on him. Ranged position themselves outside of Zorn's AoE debuffs.

When Toth jumps to Zorn, the tanks will need to switch. Toth immediately walks back to his original tank. Once both tanks are ready, they arc towards each other and then either force leap or sprint to the OTHER boss and pull aggro. While this is done, everyone else pretty much stays where they are and waits for the tanks to reaquire aggro.

Tanks must pull aggro quick enough that the bosses do not get too close to each other. If they do, they receive a buff that makes them do extra damage.

In HM this becomes more complex as Zorn has a debuff that insta-kills anyone who attacks him. The tank will need to get swept and ranged HAVE to stay outside of the radius. If they get hit with the "fearful" debuff, they are forced to switch to Toth for 60 seconds. I believe if tank gets "fearful", that's when the tanks switch (it happens when he leaps).

Ladies, Gents. Signups are up again.

We will do KP Hard/ Nightmare (the one with the shiny new commendations) on Saturday. Sunday will be the new story mode (not so new now).

I will be there on Saturday but not Sunday - wedding anniversary, I am told, outranks a raid;)

P.S IF YOU SIGN UP, SHOW UP, ON TIME AND WITHOUT LOCKS - WE ARE GETTING STARTED 20 MINS LATE AT LEAST EACH WEEK AND THAT IS GRATING A LITTLE NOW...

Hear hear NoCry.  Totally agree with that statement.  And in doing so, should apologise for not attending Saturday.  I forgot I had signed up.

Also, on top of the starting late, I'm not a fan of some large number of breaks we sometimes (not always) incur.  Especially toward the back end of a raid stint.

So I'm not trying to bust balls but.....

So how do we address someone's bladder being full? Or the neighbor having the nerve to knock on the door? Does any one have a personal waiter in their home for soda service? :-)

I can handle getting my "drinks" on my own time but if my door bell rings, I will have to answer it and since I'm on a very heavy water diet, I pee a lot so if this is an issue, I have no problem bowing out of the group. I don't want to disrupt the Raid, just let me know.
Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: Milhouse on May 15, 2012, 09:15:52 pm
The occasional disruption is understandable, but we've been doing this long enough for the group as a whole to see patterns in people's behavior. Personally, I know I need to be kinder and more patient. Others need to be more respectful of other people's time. Regularly being late is not cool. Always being the last guy back after a wipe is not cool. And finally, needing a break after the group as a whole just took a break seems selfish.

We all are guilty of all of these from time to time. Life happens. When it happens to one person all the time it seems they havent set three hours aside for a raid.

Don't take the game seriously, it's just a game. Always take other people's time very seriously.

To address certain comments:

1. The issue is not bio break it is more an issue of, bio break leading to soda break leading to I dont know what break - there is almost a viscious circle of liquids here.

2. The issue tends to "flow" (if you forgive the obvious pun) - from repair breaks.

Therefore; at the start of every raid we need to turn up fully repaired before invites are sent out - this will result in the group needing a repair at the same time. At the "repair" stop if someone needs a bio break then they call it.

And Van - you are only grouchy when Brighid is not there to keep you in line;)

Title: Re: Raid Group 3 - Official Thread
Post by: Tecknik on May 22, 2012, 10:07:33 am
NoCry, last night at/during the meeting Milhouse, External and myself discussed some things that need to change with our Raid group if we want to stop having issues.

These are just my suggestions based on things that were discussed.  I'll let Van and Ex speak for themselves.

The number 1 issue we're having right now is getting enough people together to even be able to do the raid.  The solution seems to be that we need to put together a roster.  That roster needs to have all the people who are there week after week, and then anyone else who is reliable and would like to be on the list as an alternative.  There also needs to be punishments for those that signup, and then don't show up.  If you signup and don't show up, a place will not be held for you.  If you signup for Saturday and Sunday. but don't show up on Saturday, don't expect to raid Sunday.  If you're a "main" who signs up and then doesn't show up, expect to be listed as an "alternate" for the next weekend.

Issue number 2 is our time schedule. I've noticed that people are getting confused by the Raid Calendar.  The past few weeks, the start time has been off and that throws people for a loop.  As I told Adam on Saturday when he asked, our raid is always going to start at 3:00PM EDT/2:00PM CDT/FA and go until 6:00PM EDT/5:00PM CDT/FA.  That means we should be STARTING the raid at that time, which means people need to be there and ready before that time.  Our group should all be there and grouped up ready to go.  I realize I'm guilty of being late sometimes as well.  Van had a good idea for punishments for being late which I'll let him explain.

Issue number 3 is our loot rules.  That is to say, we don't really have any.  This leaves us open to one person walking out of a raid with all the loot for their class simply based on bad RNG.  Personally, I'm a fan of the weeknight group's loot distribution which is as follows:
Quote
Loot: Master Looter is set. Loot priority is given to those who need it (who don't currently have that piece of gear). Those who need it will /roll. Winner gets item. The winner is taken out of the loot rotation until everyone in their class wins a piece of gear (unless that person is the only one needing the item). Final Boss fights (Karagga and Soa) are excluded from this loot rotation. Final Boss fights are still based on need, but anyone can roll for it regardless of previous loot won.

Just a suggestion, and something that seems to work in a fair manner.  Also, once we've got a roster up, making a list of who needs what would help us to figure out what raids we should be doing which weeks.  I would love to be doing EC Story (or even Hard Mode), but it's just not going to work if we've still got people undergeared.  We need to make sure that everyone that will be on the roster is geared enough to do whatever raids we're doing that weekend.

That's all that comes to mind right now.  If I think of anything else, you can be damn sure I'll be posting it. :)  I encourage anyone else who has thoughts on anything I've said or anything of their own to add, to please do.

I'd really like for this raid group to work, and for everybody to have fun being a part of it.

These are all good points also we need to start actively managing the raid signups if we dont have enough sign ups by friday we need to start poking and proding people a bit.

This also goes for if we have to many signups we need to basically have the raid organised by friday night.

Also we need to sort the time out the last few weeks the raid calender time has been wrong i have a theory on why so if you can have a talk with me nocry we can sort your settings out and that should sort it

I for one do not want to be stuck with doing KP and EV all the time but as it stands the best way for us to gear up our group and also progress into the new gear tier will be to do KP NM and EC story mode.

We also need to look at the list of people we have raiding with us and lock them down. I know of at least 2 that have been listed as alternates for the weeknight group that also raid with us.  Maybe we need to say if your an alternate and can attend our raid you should be a permanent for us.

these are just some suggestions and things that need a bit more organisation than we have currently have

I don't think this was aimed at you at all, if its a known issue we can work around it its the people who make promises and then don't show up that's the big issue

For instance I will be unavailable this Saturday because it is a friends birthday unfortunatly I cant control the day his birthday lands but I wont sign up and not show up.  Also by me letting every one know we can start actively finding someone to step in for that day.

How odd, I just penned a massive, and massively detailed response to each of Teck's points and it got lost in the internet!

Anyway, once again:

Roster - our hardcore is as follows: me, ex, van, brig, teck, longboard, jess, likwid. Brighid - you dont need to say anything,  you have a spot whenever your life allows it. Could anyone else who thinks they should be in raid group 3 (or who wants to, new people perhaps!!) please let me know... Adam, if you can firm up your time committment then you would of course be more than welcome;)

The more astute/ observant of you will note that I have not listed the good (and rather sexeh sounding) Mr Kaplin in our ranks. Sadly he has decided to unsub from the game and leave FA before his sub expires. I spoke with him at length before and after his decision took effect and it is simply a question of falling out of love with the game first and then, sadly, with FA. Obviously he will be really missed from our group, not least for his voice, but he was rather handy as a dps too! I wanted to let you know this Saturday and pass on his message in person to the awesomeness that is raid group 3. That being said, I think the batton must pass to myself and Ex to sexy up your saturday evenings with our sophisticated and debonaire musings...

On the question of a roster Jess, Lik - you guys have a lot of splendid things going on, could you shoot me a PM and let me know if you stlil want to form part of the permanent roster?

Timing/ Organisation. Guys, it is the same time each day of the weekend and the same time as it has always been. The issues with the calender stem from the fact (I think) that on average I am travelling between 3 countries every 2 weeks and apart from never really knowing what the time is (why should I when I am on call all day every day!!) I tend to not have a clue what timezone I am in or where my computer thinks it is... That being said, I have it sorted now so lets chalk this down to user error, or an attempt to keep you on your toes!

Dropping out late in the day - in my book real life takes priority, by that I mean your boss calling you into a meeting, or indeed a different country, with no warning, errant children or spouses and home emergencies. Real life is not signing up on a monday, turning to tentative on a thursday then cancelling on a saturday...

Gear - loot - Good point Teck, I was actually the victim of no rules for about 2 or 3 months but did not want to say anything when, (A) I was the master organisation the raid and (B) it would have looked like I wanted to change the rules for my own selfish reasons! Now that I am well geared however.... you are dead right, my suggestion was going to be that you rolled until you got something you needed then, the same class person who needs something too gets their pop etc, etc. Anyway, to be discussed.

I think i covered everything you raised apart from "punishment" not going to happen guys, at least not like that, we will slowly ostrazise the offending member(s) and they will soon learn the error of their ways;)

Questions, comments, queries?

p.s. I will pass on Kap's message to you, please lets not turn this thread into an OMG he left one (from his farewell message you will more than appreciate that he did not want that!!)

Exactly, External.  Real life always comes first.  This was in no way aimed at any one person, especially not you, Brighid.  You've always let us know ahead of time if you couldn't make it, and marked yourself as "Cancelled" on the Raid Calendar.

I agree about actively managing the raid calendar.  I'd say by at least 24 hours in advance of the raid, we should have a grasp on who is available, tentative, cancelled, etc so that we know what we have and what we need.  That gives us plenty of time to put out requests to the "alternates" or TextPlus messages guild-wide.

Before we start looking at alternates of the weeknight group, we should see what we've got as far as people who are available on the weekend during our time slot.  I feel like there are enough people in this guild that want to raid without having to dig into another group's alternates.

I do want to apologize for the couple of times I have been late in the past. Unfortunately to keep the family happy, I get stuck being late to avoid massive "waggro". I envy those who's wife or girlfriend participates with them in SWTOR, its a breath of fresh air.

I think Jess and I are for sure part of the core team but our availability this past month has been a little spotty.  Life happens.  :D  I think things are calming down a bit though.  We love raiding with you guys and if we ever can't come it's simply because we have commitments in real life.

We'll never sign up and no show though.  That's not cool.  I think there was one exception the other week where we didn't sign up on the calendar but there was a miscommunication in the thread about us being able to come or not.

I'm all for us switching it to a if you get a piece of raid gear on the non end bosses that you pass until everyone gets at least one piece.  I think that's totally fair personally.  I usually do my best to do this anyway just out of courtesy.  Did you guys want to do something like this for the raid group?

I will say though that the weekend of June 2nd I'm pretty sure Jess, myself, Milhouse and waz_here won't be making it for Raid.

Thanks old boy;)

Could those who are marked as "tentative" please firm up before the end of Friday (Brigid - no need)

Guys, I'm going to have to switch to "Tentative" unfortunately.

I've been working on a deal for a new car the past few days and the dealership told me today that it's coming in "late afternoon" tomorrow.  I'm hoping by "late afternoon", he actually meant at noon but I highly doubt it. :)

I will try my best to be there.

Right, not great tonight, why not?

GEAR!!!! do HMs, do your dailies and you can have at least columni and some truly snazzy implants, relics and mods for your gear - also, check the GTN, I got most of my gear from buying people's discarded mods etc.

We will expect to "carry" someone (although with the roster now having taken effect that should be less) but we can not carry even non tionesed people. PUG up or nag people to do HM flashpoints with you.

Till manana.

Ok, so, after a few weeks of not good enough progress we are having a little change. The following will apply to Raid Group 3's exploits in the future:

1. You need a decent set of gear, no expertise more than 100 and a healthy set of rakata and columni gear/ pieces.

2. We will be doing nightmare KP and the "new" operation - therefore, dont get locks!

3. Be on time, repaired and ready to go.

4. Loot, once you have one a piece that you need for your main then you can not roll again until other raid members of the same class have got their stuff.

5. Be appropriately specced - it is not ideal to turn up with a tanking spec for a dps roll...

This coming weekend, 2nd of June there will be no weekend raid group. At least not one with me, likwid, jessercas, brighid and vanhouten in it;)

Raid group 3 will have a fixed roster: this is:

1) me
2) Likwid
3) Ex
4) Teck
5) Van
6) Jess
7) brighid
8) longboard (longboard, speak to me the next time we are on together will you? I have included you on this list as you are as long standing as anyone, however, we really want you to up the activities of the newly 50 group too).

Other people (especially you Mr Adam - your assistance is rather appreciated) are more than welcome to sign up, if we can fit you in and still do the planned content we will.

If you expect to take part in raid group 3 and dont have the gear or are not on the list above it is because your gear is/ was not good enough. Sorry, run HM's or do Longboard's got gear raid.

Thanks.

My Healing Commando is now level 50. He is not geared enough, yet, to do Nightmare KP or EC Story, but know that my heals will be available in a few weeks to raid with you guys once I get my Commando some more gear.

Did we have anyone pick this up? I'll send out a text blast and see who we can get to show. I'm at work, per usual, but Adam is already around and waiting to see if we get the people. Sorry for the confusion!
