Title: Raiding in FA
Post by: Mharz on January 16, 2012, 07:28:45 pm
Hello everyone.

In the event you might have missed the memo I've been named the Master tasked with organizing raiding in FA.  This means I'll be working to organize raids for FA members.  Working with me you can help make the experience fun for everyone.

I'm making this thread to gather some information about raiding interest in FA.  If you're interested in raiding I would ask you to respond to this thread with the following information:

1.  Your class and desired role.  For example:  Jedi Guardian, Tank.  To plan a good raid we need certain roles filled.  I need to find out which roles are well manned and which are in demand.  This is critical to forming a group.  Also knowing your class will let me know what buffs you can bring to a raid.

2.  Your availability to raid.  Please give times in the server timezone.  For instance M,W,F 6 pm to 10 pm.  We'll form raids when we have at least 8 people available and willing to raid at a consistent time.

3.  Your level of commitment to a raid team on a scale of 1 to 5.  With 1 being you would show up most of the time and 5 being you cancel holidays and birthdays to clear content.  I plan to use this information to group like minded players in groups.  If you're light hearted and want to casually enjoy raid content you probably shouldn't be in a group with hardcore raiders.

4.  Your raiding experience (be honest) on a scale of 1 to 5.  With 1 being you've never raided and 5 being you should have been paid for all the hours you've put in clearing content.

My urgency about this is high.  The faster I get your response the faster we'll form raid groups and start to push content.  If anyone has questions, concerns or if you care to share your thoughts about raiding feel free to drop me a PM here or catch me in TS sometime when I'm free.

Update 1/22/12:

Some raid facts:

Raid Size/Comps
Generally a 8 man raid group should contain the following:
Tanks: 2
Healers: 2
DPS: 4

Generally a 16 man raid group should contain the following:
Tanks: 2
Healers:4
DPS:10

Lockouts:
Lockouts are shared between level of difficulty, meaning that if you do 8 man raid you'll be saved to the 16 man version as well.  However you can do an 8 man hard mode AND an 8 man normal mode.

Consumables:
Each class has a main stat.  Every raider should come to a raid night with a supply of stims appropriate for their class for the night.  Every pull while working on an encounter should be done with everyone in the group using the proper stim.  Folks with Biochem can help out a lot by making stims prior to raid.

Class Buffs:
Every class brings a buff.  For raids, we want at least one of every class in a raid to get the maximum number of buffs to make sure we're at our best.  In addition, every raid needs at least 1 Guardian for Armor Sunders.  This is a debuff that a guardian applies to foes that reduces their armor and makes them easier to damage.  This could be a Guardian tank or a Guardian DPS.

1. Sage, DPS (have some points in seer so can offheal as well)
2. Varied.  I usually don't get the same days off from week to week.   I can pretty much guarantee I'll be available 9pm on, though.
3. If it's a raid that I can make and I've said I'll be there, I'll be there.  I'll put a 3 due to the fact that a lack of steady schedule makes it diffilut to raid at a consistent time.
4. 2.  Did some 40 mans and 20 mans in vanilla WoW before I quit.

1.Consular, Shadow, melee DPS

2. 7pm to 11pm FA time

3.  4

4. 5, most of my PvE raid experience was in WoW, cleared all of vanilla, BC cleared all the early raids then stopped raiding when my guild was starting BT, when Wrath first came out cleared all of naxx, then took a break did not see much raid content in cata.

Jedi Sage, Seer

Time: M Tu W & Th. Once March hits Thursday will be out of the question. Anytime evenings, as long as its scheduled and I can plan homework around it.

Commitment: 4. Every once in a while I will have a test. I have a light schedule, so it shouldn't be too bad, but I'm not going to skip studying for school to raid.

Raid Experience: 1. I'm a damn good healer, so I can make up for lack of experience just fine.

1. Trooper, Combat Medic

2. Varies but later in the afternoon and anytime im not busy on the weekends.

4. 5  I have healed Raids in many games from EQ to Wow....ETC. (I watch streams daily and generally know or strive to know all the fights, when i don't i ask before hand)

RORYN
Shadow, tank (preferably)

Anytime after 830 est. so after 730 fat?

4. Sometimes stuff gets in the way but more often than not if it's scheduled I'll be there.

5. Tanked in wow for much end game content.

I'm not 50 yet but will be in the new few weeks. Rl has been getting in the way. But once 50 I'm all over it.

1. Your class and desired role. - Jedi Sentinel Melee DPS

2. Your availability to raid. - M-F 7:00pm till 2:00AM FA time. Weekends all day. Work and Family aggro could alter that though :(

3. Your level of commitment to a raid team on a scale of 1 to 5. - 4 - If I commit, I will be there!

4. Your raiding experience (be honest) on a scale of 1 to 5. 3, maybe 4 now.

1. Consular-Shadow-Balance DPS but I can tank down the line if DPS doesn't work out for me.

2. I have a busy college schedule this semester so I will update my availability as I get into the semester (gotta see what kind of workload I'll be working with) but right now I know for sure Fri, Sat & Sun are open.

3. 4 if I get committed to a raid group I'm there.

4. 5 I have been playing mmo's for years. In swg I had 1 jedi precu and 3 jedi in the cu. I have played wow since it came out and recently have been raid leading a guild group every week for the past 3 months. I've been 7/7 FL, and 2/7 Heroic. Currently 5/8 in normal dragon soul and while raid leading and telling ppl what to do during the encounter I still pull 30k dps.

1- Jedi Sentinel, Melee DPS

2- Monday: all day and night, Tues-Wednesday: 10:45pm onward, Thurs-Sat: 11:15pm onward, Sunday: 10:15 p.m. onward. I can also do all afternoons currently if they end before 5 p.m. *Note: The problem with my schedule is it is inconsistent. The times I've listed are the times I'm available EVEN if I have work. Many times I won't, however.

3- 4 (can't get out of work)

4- 3ish

Also, if your name in game is different than your forum name, please post that as well!

1. Fuse: Shadow DPS. Can respec to Tank, but would require me to go back to pre-lvl50 gear.
Also working on building up Fuze, a guardian which will be a dedicated PvE tank.

2. Most evenings. Most reliable between 11pm and 2am each night.

3. 4

1. Smuggler, DPS and CC
2. Monday to Saturday, 2pm to 7pm is best times for me.
3. 4  I don't really have set hours at work, just that I have to work 39 hours.  However, my hours are set at least 4 weeks in advance.  Very rare that changes are made with short notice.
4. 2  I've literally done 4 raids in Lotro, one a PuG that I don't remember much about.  2 which was a tank n' spank with me being one of two tanks.  Other one was guild raid, again as one of two tanks.

(1)CLASS: Vanguard, tank

(2)AVAILABILITY:  Monday through Wednesday 10am-5:30pm, Thursdays any-any, Fridays any-midnightish, Saturday 6pm-midnightish, Sunday 6pm-any

(3)COMMITMENT:  4.  Im obsessive about seeing everything there is to see and getting everything done, but I do have three kids so there's occasionally an emergency.

(4)EXPERIENCE: 2.  Did a bit of raiding on WoW as dps prior to quitting, but not much.  Raided on LoTRO (also as dps).  No raid experience in my current role.

1: Ket ; Smuggler Scoundrel, Varies.
Typically I have a range of CC's, but also going the Sawbones tree so can heal... but I love my DPS too. Can focus on any role within, but as a "jack of all trades", I may well be a master of none.

2: Tricky, I am GMT (UK) but do want to participate. I would suggest definitely:
Friday, Saturday 3pm - 7/8pm FAT
Usually available Mo - Th 2pm - 6pm FAT
It should be noted that if I have negotiated with the wife to have a long lie in the next day, I can extend the Fri/Sat to 10pm on some more rare occasions.

3: Around Average, 3.
Kids cause problems so can't drop everything, but the wife know what this game is to me.

4: About 3.
Almost always played on US servers in any game, which makes times restrictive so my level has never been as high as I wanted.

Hope I can be included somewhere!!

1.) Lan'obi
              Sage DPS

2.) really open schedule except summer time i slack on gaming a bit with kids out of school but still play more than most I guess

NOTE      I will never raid if .... the following happens :)

Deer or Turkey Season is in

or

The smallmoouth bass are going nutz at KY lake

or

Kentucky is playing a Basketball or Football game :)

3.) 4

4.) 4

1.  Jedi Sage (CC/DPS)

2.  Evenings 6pm (EST) onward except Thursday and Friday.

3.  4 (If I have committed to a scheduled raid, by God I will make it.  If I can't commit 100%, I will not sign up for a particular raid.)

4. 1 (In my MMOs of choice, raiding simply did not exist.  The closest was DDO, but that is still different than "traditional" raiding.  I have literally NEVER done a WoW-style end-game raid.)
Title: Raiding in FA
Post by: ZephixLeer (Zephic) on January 18, 2012, 08:46:20 pm
1. Zephix - Trooper/Commando
DPS
I can respec healer if needed, but may have to wait for a better mobo/processor. I've had delay issues in the past that I wouldn't want to go into a raid with. I'll know better how viable a healer I'll be once I experience each raid as DPS first.

2. 12am - 5am CST Mon-Fri.
    Any time Sat. and Sun.

3. About  4, though I really want to put a 5 - Wife plays, but doesn't raid. This means I have to clear my raiding schedule with her or possibly face an angry wife mid-raid. :P

4. Experience is 4. I've main tanked raids before, though not frequently. I research Bosses before a raid. I do my best to be prepaired, and I speak up if I need to, rather than risk wiping the raid group.

1. Jedi Guardian: Tank

2. As soon as I hit 50. Tuesday - Friday 9am to 9pm. Saturday & Sunday N/A. Monday 4pm to 2am.

3. 1 to 3. I am married. Sometimes I have to do married things.

4. A 5 easy. Possibly a 6 if it went that high.

1. Jedi Guardian: Tank

2. As of now, 7 Days a week, 7pm+.

3. 4, If it's planned I'll be there. But Situations and emergencies do arise that may require my attention.

4. 5+; I've been raiding in MMOs for 10+ Years in EQ, FFXI, DCUO, and WoW.

Post by: Setun on January 19, 2012, 11:15:25 am
1.  Setun - Commando (aww yeah) - can swap between heavy dps (preferred), healer, or off-tank.

2.  Weekends all day err day, Tuesday and Friday nights after 9pm.

3.  3-4 - I do make trips to Orlando to visit my girlfriend (or she comes down to Miami) every other weekend or so, so advanced planning on raids is needed.

4.  10 - I used to hardcore raid with Heroes Fate, who was the #1 raiding guild in EQ2's Everfrost server for 2 years.  We used to raid 6 nights a week from 7pm - 3am, with an 80% raid attendance rule.  Was primary off tank, emergency rezzer, and senior raid leader if the main officers were out.  So most of the encounter in SWTOR thus far have been cake compared to what I've seen lol

Post by: Makuren on January 20, 2012, 12:33:24 pm
1. Makuren - Jedi Guardian -Tanking (In PvP and PvE since level 12)

2. I tend to be on every day during the week. Normally evenings from 6PM -12 PM EST. On weekends I spend more time in game, the time I play varies but I do get on in the evenings from about 5PM-1 AM.

3. 3: While in game, I like to do a variety of things. If a raid group is forming and they need a tank, I'm in.

Note: Emergencies and study periods take more importance than raiding.

4. 4: I am pretty experienced on the raiding scene. I have always enjoyed doing it and tend to play my role well. In WoW I used to mainly be a DPS. Now I'm focused on 100% tanking.

Group #3 looks good. Can't wait to get an idea on times. Maybe get together a raid for this weekend?

Any thoughts on getting a 16 man together for this weekend? I know something was attempted last night but it was a little to late for a work night for me. I wish we had a system that i could be alerted by text when someone is looking for a healer.

hey Mharz, i'll very very rarely be able to make any 8pm start times that you have me in for with group 1. might want to look at taking me off that (i would probably be able to sub-in late if needed sometimes though). 9pm is the earliest i could ever do. group 2's times will be a lot more doable for me.

I'd actually love to get something together with the weekend group this weekend, if others are up for it?

I'll be free most of Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice to get an 8 or 16 man EV going tonight.

Group 2 works best for me but they're full. Their times work out for me so I need to be put in their group and I'll figure it out from there.

Unless a weekend group gets formed then I'm game for that.

Other than that I'll sign up as alternative in case people don't show up.

Group 1 is supposed to be attempting a 16 man EV tonight.  Looks like there will be spaces open.

1. Trooper / Healer  (Specd straight PVE combat medic)

2. W Th  from 8pm(ish) - 12am(ish) FA time(WTF is the server timezone?) Weekends are good all around.  I can't spend all day on on Sat and Sun but if planned out I can carve a good number of hours.  Unfortunately with life, work, kid, etc I don't know how hard I commit to a schedule but I'm willing to give it a shot so long as everyone is flexible.  I'm no opposed to internal FA pug raids at all.

3. 3.5?  4?  I want to dedicate it's just all dependent on the scheduling.

4. 3.5  Only raided in DCUO but it was good times.  I wasn't a shabby healer.  :)

I'm going to have to drop out of a dedicated raid group for the next few weeks as my schedule is unpredictable due to work and family issues.  I'll be able to be a back up healer for any Fri and Sat raids but I cant guarantee attendence in advance.

I've PM'd a few people who might be interested in this.  Figure this is as good a place as any to post it.

Speed can be key in defeating this puzzle in Eternity Vault.  Assuming you have an iPhone/iPad you can find the quickest route with ease.  Pretty sure there is an Android version, but I haven't got a link.

We've been using that app, thanks.

Please choose ONE raid group and stick to it. Since the times are so close together, there will often be overlapping (like last week), so we'd prefer to have a completely different roster, especially between group 1 and 2.

If you aren't in a raid group yet, we still have open spots. The late night group is needing tanks and DPS especially. Please contact me if you're interested! The hours are kinda late (10-1 FA). Mharz is also trying to get a 16-man group going and still doesn't have enough for that.
