First off. Dropbox is amazing. Like, super amazing.
Second, appsumo is giving away some lifetime dropbox pro accounts (http://appsumo.com/dropbox/). Which is even more super amazing seeing as how it costs $100 a year... for life.
wooty woot

SugarSync is better. http://www.sugarsync.com, more free storage space, better security controls when sharing files, and sugarsync employees can't see your data.
It's an enticing offer though, I hope you get it. In the future, the ethical thing would have been to tell people up front that your link tracks who signs up for the giveaway giving you better odds in winning and in fact this post is more a solicitation then it is a "hey I found this at random and have no ulterior motive." Not that it would have made a difference because who doesn't want more storage space but nonetheless it would have been the proper thing to do.
Just my .02 cents

There's no tracking, what are you talking about? I don't get more storage space?
I don't care what link you use, here's a stripped version. http://appsumo.com/dropbox/
I've been using dropbox for about 2 years and it's dramatically improved my geek and work life. That's the motive, it's awesome. Someone shared it with me, I clicked their link (I think he gets an entry for that), I'm sharing it with you guys. If you don't want me to get the entry then click the stripped one. I don't see a difference.

As far as features go though, the LAN sync feature of dropbox is amazing for multiple computers on one network. I don't like how sugarsync doesn't have a search feature on their website either. Also the packrat feature of dropbox is really important to me. Being able to get all previous versions since the beginning of time has saved me and some coworkers a few times.
Dropbox being supported on every platform is really nice too.

Dropbox has been pretty epic in my history with it. The ability to have a shared folder with friends who you can add and kick out very easily along with the ability to easily sync files between my computer and phone made me a believer.

I'm sure they're both great. I've just been using dropbox and use it for my company and it's been a lifesaver. It works well for business too because it's so simple.

I use both Dropbox and Sugarsync. Sugarsync works better for my personal files as I can organize separate folders anywhere on my computer to sync with the cloud. Dropbox works better for collaborating with other people. It is a lifesaver in the super-low-budget-indie film scene, as we use it to instantly share screenplay drafts, location and cast photos, crew lists, etc. I clicked your link likwidtek. I hope one of us wins. I'm tempted to spam my FB friend with the link too, but I can't find enough info abut AppSumo to consider it safe. I'll just take the risk myself.

They seem legit to me. I googled them and nothing stood out really.
That said, I still used a quarantined email account.
