@Rockjaw @TheFanRepublic Can you please clarify? You think you will bypass the narrowing-down-of the RD, and go straight to a specific date?

@Madlarkin89 Yep, I think we'll go straight to a date. That's my guess...
CC = ComicCon, which is October 13-16. Sounds like a release date will be announced either before or by ComicCon. Seeing as how they've stated that it will probably be announced 4-5 weeks before launch, right now November is looking like the month, with early access possibly getting in in early November. All we can do is keep watching!
-
Perfect. So, so perfect. :)
-
The Comic Con he was referring to was the san diego comic con last july, not the one in new york.
he's referring to statements made at that CC, where they would narrow down the release from holiday to which month at some point.
-
I still say mid-December if they wish to bank on holiday spending. Or January, if Amazon's listed ship date is any indication.
November seems a little too optimistic.
-
I'm still calling it for Q12012.
-
given the level of polish the last build had (cant wait for the new build) I would say november is not all that optimistic. Ive seen games come out or even persist with more flaws than TOR had by that build.
a few bugs, graphical issues and an OP class (sorc/sage) it wasnt the worst even WOW has shipped out. WoW would've shipped then nerfed the sage later after enough forum QQ (knowing the issue since beta) the bugs would've been patched in as soon as you got the game. (nothing like getting the game, loading it in, then downloading a big freaking patch)

actual year or fiscal year? lol
i bring that up because last spring issues and confusion reguarding when EA fiscal year ends and what quarter that is.
Fiscal year Q1 2012 is in march (this last march i believe)

Close to a release date we are. Consider the following:
1. We've been told "Holiday" 2011 in the past. This narrows the date to the last 6 weeks of the year.
2. Typically release dates have been announced 4-6 weeks in advance. This means we should know a date as soon as October 1 for a Thanksgiving release date at 6 weeks out to as late as December 1 for a late December launch.
3. The most recent EA investor call made VERY clear that the game content is DONE and the focus is now on scale - meaning they're focused on how many people they are going to have on their hands on launch day not if the content is ready.
4. Guild alignment is underway pointing again towards organizing people on servers they want to play on with their friends. This again points towards a sooner date rather than a later date. I would project that the fan base should have a few weeks to Guild Align and I would estimate a couple weeks plus the release date window. I would guess 2 weeks plus 4-6 weeks before release.
5. Comic Con is a throw away show. It won't be announced there. It will happen either before or after.
All this considered I think we're getting an announcement as soon as in the next two weeks or as late as December 1. Given what I know and my strong connection to the Force I'm calling a release date, release date on or around October 1.

I'm reserving the right to call it Q1 of the US government fiscal year or the first quarter of 2012 :-)

I wouldn't call october 1st. we just started new testers downloading the build today. even if this is the release build, we wont have enough time to test some of the key features being implemented in the new build (such as new flashpoints/raids I.E. endgame) to be sure they are ready for the release date as planned.
-
Wait, testers are downloading now? I didnt get instructions yet...

I just got an e-mail from Bestbuy that my pre order has a new release date which is 12/20/11 . I don't know if this is just best buy randomly choosing a date or pushing back the date they previously had on the pre order but that's the e-mail i just got

I just saw it my too!
Did they say how many weeks early access would be before release? I can't remember if that was stated.
Edit: Just went to SWTOR forums, guess that part hasn't been announced yet.
-
Wow, I'm surprised they announced 3 months early.
-
Oh and all those who went to the eurogamer developer session are in beta
-
I'm disapointed that it's near the end of december. Had hoped for it to be in november.
-
Same here. Do they want people to just ignore Xmas?
Now to finalize my new computer build...
-
I'll be in Minnesota at the inlaws for Christmas... So much for early access. :/
