Phase 2 is up for guilds. It's time to solidify our allies/adversaries!
-
ahh, was about to send you a pm on this. tally ho.
-
It looks like we can list only three guilds as our allies or adversaries. I've had three guild leaders respond to my PMs, all Empire-aligned, and all are former MxO guilds.
-
which ones manic?

Here is the spreadsheet that I've been maintaining:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuAam2NzGdOfdGlJbVNTUlZkYXVGdE1HeUZQdHJYaGc&hl=en_US
The majority of responses I got were "Great, we'll talk about it and get back to you." If I didn't hear from them again after two weeks, I sent another PM to check in. Almost nobody responded to my follow-ups.
Most former MxO'ers were more than willing to jump on board, and the majority of them are going Empire.
EDIT: Just got a PM from Drenarb of The Guardians! They agree to have us as allies. So that gives us 4 confirmed guilds to choose from, 3 of which are Empire and former MxO'ers.
-
I think having an Allies > having 3 enemies
and Guardians seem pretty solid
-
Can't access the spreadsheet.

Can't access the spreadsheet.
Try again. I can view it even when I'm not logged into google.
In case anyone else can't see it, here are our confirmed allies/adversaries:
Empire:
Jokerz - Lead by Dephiance, former MxO guild
Revan's Legacy - Lead by Mercio, former MxO guild
Legends - Lead by Semitote, former MxO guild
Republic:
The Guardians - Lead by Drenarb
-
It worked for me
-
Still an issue...Must be a firewall at work thing.

My only concern about The Guardians is that they are a multi-game guild, so it's hard to say how many of their 120 members actually plan on having SWTOR as their primary game. When I have time I'll check out their forum activity and whatnot.
I'm sure Jen'jidai already found their guilds, but I'd really like to end up on the same server as them. With their months in beta, it would be fun to finally show them what a challenge is!
-
Illuminati/Division Six also posted in our Recruitment thread. They're Empire as well.

Being on a server with Jen'jidai would be pretty sick. I could see some good cross-faction rp (pvp with a purpose) happening with them.

Since I have ran a multi-game guild with over 750 members I can see why you would be worried about how dedicated they would be to tor. From what I can tell they have a separate group of people for each game, there probably is still some crossover though. Your best bet is talking to the leader of their TOR branch. From my experience though if TOR is not their main game/focus then they will never be as good as a guild who has it as their main.

Check the public forum at our Guild HQ. Two new threads for ally/adversary requests. Champions of the Force look promising.

I see that RL and Jokerz already have us listed as an adversary. Perhaps we should focus on two allies and an adversary. The fact that they have us listed should increase our chances even if we don't list them, yes?
The Guardians and Champions of the Force look like good allies. What I find interesting is that we don't have to ask permission to add guilds. You just add them and voila.
Jen'Jidai has 93 members (we have 90) and they've been in Beta for a while now. I say we team up with Guardians and Champions, adversary Jen'Jidai for hopefully a good challenge, and hopefully get to fight our old MxO pals since they have us listed as well. Whatcha think?
-
Illuminati is PvP West, so....
-
If I were a betting man, I'd say that if two guilds both list each other as allies or adversaries, then the chances of those two guilds ending up on the same server essentially doubles, rather than just one guild listing the other. If we want to game with RL and Jokerz, we should definitely add them as adversaries as they've done for us. It would show the TOR team that we have a real interest in gaming together.
Honestly, I'd rather we only list three adversaries because that also increases our chances of winding up with the old MxO folks, since not many of them are going Republic. RL, Jokerz, and Jen'Jidai together would be awesome. We may not have immediate support from other Empire guilds, but at least we will be up against people we are familiar with.

I made a post here for MxOers: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=9280221#post9280221
Here's the thing. RL and Jokerz don't have many members. Even if we end up on the same server, the chances of running into them are slim (there's no cross-faction chatter AT ALL). There'd only be two or three of them online at any given time. I'd rather group up with guilds that are about our size so that we'll have both a good challenge and good people to group up with.
As I've mentioned before, regardless of what server they put each guild on, I think a majority of MxO guilds will SWITCH to our server regardless, so there's no sense in wasting our ally slots on that.

Good point.

I tend to agree with T in that I think when we announce (and we should IMO) that FA will be on a certain server there will be MxO vets that will know the name and the rep. They will come to either help or hunt FA. And while allies matter I'll go out on a limb and say they better bring all the reds they can dig up because the pain train is about to roll into their station.
On a secondary note this announcement means we're getting closer to launch because they can now plot out servers. Consider that fact for a moment. Also the following quote from EA in an investor's call:
"In terms of timing, again, we haven't given a street date yet. We won't do so for some time, possibly at our next upcoming earnings call towards the end of October. We're in beta testing mode. We're expanding the scalability of the testing. It's not about working to complete content. We feel very good about the content. That's ready to go. It's about tuning the game to make sure, for example, we can get the level of concurrent users per server cluster that we want. That the response time is what people would expect. So the factor, just to reiterate what we said last earnings call about timing, we expect to ship Star Wars by the end of this calendar year."
This says.. Content is DONE. We're just afraid of 2 million players at launch.
Close, to launch we are. Meditate on this, I must.

I think this is a really good point. Gotta agree we should focus on guilds with similar numbers rather than logging on and only really a handful of them on at a time compared to the 90 members we have.
-
Empire has more players so we will always encounter high number of enemies no matter where or who we end up with... I would say we should stick to the good playerbase we know... However... Their low member count is... frightening.
Perhaps we could confirm their level of interest and dedication to the game? Manic? Could you get in contact with RL and Jokerz to see how things are going?
As to...

I'm sorry T, but i'm gonna have to go against you on this one... I think that people wont just give up their saved up Guild Name on the server they end up in, and take a wild shot at the cost of losing up all the preparation they have made, just to be with us...
But then again, I have been proven wrong in the past, so who knows...
-
For a lot of these smaller guilds the adjustment will be minor if they move to a different server. For someone with our size, it's just easier to already have our members a part of the guild so that I'm not trying to send out 90 invites.

There is cross faction chatter in the form of /say though that is only local.
I also agree that we should try to find guilds that roughly have the same size of members as us, so we have the best Opvp experience we can possibly have.
-
That's not cross faction...that's localized. If you're close enough to /say, then you won't be doing much talking. Basically there's no way to ORGANIZE anything with the other faction except through PMs on the forums or emails and then just hoping they show up, I guess.

Hello "TheTbone," I am a second-in-command of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). As an acting ambassador/diplomat for GAR, I have been tasked with searching for viable alliances. It is in the best interest of the Galactic Republic that I request a triad alliance with "The Furious Angels." If you and the rest of "The Furious Angels" are willing to form an alliance with GAR and Kan Kop, and declaring the same adversary as GAR/Kan Kop, this would guarantee a strong Republic force on whichever server we (GAR, Kan Kop, and The Furious Angels) are placed on. We would be honored to fight by your side.
GAR's Allies:
Kan Kop (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/23918/kan-kop)
GAR's Adversaries:
The Legion of Darkness (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/70858/legion-darkness)
GAR HQ: Grand Army (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/8161/grand-army)
We would appreciate your response as soon as you are able to do so. Best of luck in TOR! :D

Added GAR to the Guild Contacts sheet.
-
I forwarded the PM to you on SWTOR as well and told them you'd be in touch.
-
Anyone else getting darkfall political flashbacks?
-
Not joining then arguably killed our experience there.
-
I think it was only having about 15 active members participating in that game that killed our experience. If we were as gung ho for that game as we are for SWTOR, we could have started our own movement.
-
I've contacted BislesRunningsun of GAR. Since we haven't made any final decisions at this point I've told him that we are taking their offer into heavy consideration, given the fact that Empire guilds will outnumber Republic guilds by nearly 2-to-1. It will be important for the Republic guilds to form strong relationships as soon as possible.
-
With the GAR guys, their guilds are about 50 strong each. Better than the 10-20 of the MxO guilds but not quite on par with the 90 range of Jen'Jidai, Guardians, and Champions. Speaking of, got this reply from Woodgrain:
Hey man,
I made this thread (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=9280221#post9280221) for MxO guilds and didn't know if you guys wanted to be included or not. How many members from MxO do you have?
Also, where are you with your allies and adversaries? I know you guys have 96 members. We have 90. We were thinking it could make for some fun PvP.
Let me know your thoughts.
-Tbone
You guys are actually the only guild, from experience that would be able to give us a challenge in all honesty. And yes, for you guys, we'd be interested. Thanks for the link.
Haha, I'm already loving to hate these guys!

We could goad him something chronic.

So I was spinning down from working (yes at 4 am don't ask) and I found this..
http://www.swtor.com/guilds/4513/furious-angels/allies-adversaries
Note the 1 ally and 8 adversaries. Laughed at this I did.

Imagine yourself drunk. Then imagine you read both those sentances. Then realize how weird they sound when taken literally. And now you know how I feel right now.

Ask him about the tattoo!
-
Manic - check out our public forum section of SWTOR - a few, seemingly, unanswered posts there.

... I thought those were wings..?

Now that the launch date has been announced, we should start to finalize our decision on this.
Champions of the Force (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/4705/champions-force) seem like a solid bunch, and they're nearing 200 members. Wouldn't hurt to have them on our side. Guardians (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/4593/guardians) as well. Both guilds have expressed an interest in us.
I'd obviously like to have at least one MxO guild on our list. RL, Jokerz, or Jen Jidai. The majority of MxO guilds are going PvP East, so it's possible we may end up on the same server anyways, but we can help our chances even more by having one on our list.
-
I wanted to discuss it Monday, but I don't think I'm going to be at the meeting this week.
I say Champions, Guardians, and Jen'jidai. All the other MxO guilds have already added us to their list. We need to make sure that there's some actual competition and allies, though.
Maybe we can add these guilds to our list and just send them a PM saying "hey, we've added you to our list and we want to encourage you to do the same" type of thing.
-
I went added and added them to our list. We can always change it if we decide to go a different way. Jen'Jidai already has us on their list. Does anyone have any objections?
