Looks like I am going to submit my purchase order request over to the boss to see if I can get approvals, I might have to make an executive decision and overwrite her verdict HaHa!

I have never used a Razor product but I am in need of at least a new keyboard and mouse. Possibly a headset. So I am curious if anyone has experience with their products. Are they good quality? Are they useful? What is so special about them? I just don't want to drop that kind of money if they are sub par quality and if they don't do anything a 15$ keyboard and mouse can do.

The naga mouse is the most amazing mouse for MMOs. That SW:TOR mouse is just a skinned NAGA. I say with out a doubt get it.

Post by: Saint on August 16, 2011, 04:25:01 pm
Just get a naga mouse, its cheaper than the skinned swtor one and probably better imho

Post by: Tbone on August 16, 2011, 05:06:18 pm
Yes, the Naga mouse is a MUST HAVE, but you should be able to get one closer to $80 instead of $130.
Title: Re: SW:TOR | Razer
Post by: likwidtek on August 16, 2011, 05:20:46 pm
That $130 is just the wireless "epic" version I think. I read somewhere the SW:TOR wired version would be the same price as the regular NAGA. No matter what though. Get some flavor of naga. super awesome mouse.

Wireless is overrated, I had the wireles mamba, however it always seemed to die at the worst times while playing.. so you have to plug it back in anyways might as well get the wired in the first place. cheaper that way.

I have the wired naga. No complaints. Wireless is dumb.

let me be perfectly honest.. I would buy that headset in a hot second if it looked like the fighter pilot helmets.. even a simplified not full helmet version.. (http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/photos/images/original/000/037/162/04.jpg?1264185458)

They've had 7.1 headsets since forever. They always end up with mixed reviews.

Post by: Tbone on August 18, 2011, 10:05:07 am
Apparently this is the first "true" 7.1 headset, rather than some software trick.

Maybe it's the 7.1. The 5.1 'true' have been around for a while. They use sound channeling.

Woot! PORKINS!
The main reason why I want that headset is to get the glowing led "I sense a disturbance in the force" effect that they're baking into SW:TOR.
That sounds flipping awesome.
Also, semi related, I'm sick of teamspeak button binding. They have a foot pedal that they made for Wow, but as far as I know it's only bindable to ALT. I want one where you can change the key binding. Anyone know of one?

Razer is really getting serious about gaming products. They have a gaming laptop lined up... obviously to compete directly with Alienware.

That's disappointing. They talked as if they were going to revolutionize the market and show PC gaming is just as accessible as console gaming. Instead they revealed an uber-expensive gaming laptop that only the most hardcore of gamers are going to shell out the cash for?
If they really want to show PC gaming's potential, they need to be able to get the price point down to that of the popular consoles.

Haven't they been openly working on this laptop for like 2 years now? It wasn't really a big reveal if everyone already knew about it.

My reaction to this on the LANCAMP forums:
Quote
Totally retarded. Nearly 3k for a subpar gaming machine.
The keyboard is really cool but they're going to be selling that as a separate device anyway. If they assisted in creating a long lasting modular graphics card standard than this would be tempting.
But $2800 is retarded.

Just posting an update on this in case anyone is going to be buying one of these items. All items are now available to pre-purchase. Estimated ship date is december 15th! Also, when you pre-purchase/purchase one of these items you get an in-game color crystal. My guess is it is green with a black core.
I picked myself up a mouse as I had a 75$ gift card to the razer store and was the only way I could justify forking out that much money for a mouse, but to each their own! Enjoy!!

Wait, I thought the headset glow was supposed to be tied to the game. If there were enemies near. Now it's just an always on glow? That's lame.
Also it doesn't say if they're true surround or virtual surround.

tempted on getting the keyboard or the mouse. I mean I'm getting a brand new set up and a non ghosting keyboard would be nice. Plus it would satisfy my razor wanting of the set up with the keys and such.
Not to mention I'm a collector of light saber crystals

It's funny... I actually did an @rockjaw yesterday on Twitter when he was answering questions, asking if these would be released before EGA and he didn't answer.
EDIT: Interesting... It doesn't say if the keyboard is mechanical or not. You'd think that would be a big selling point.
If the keyboard is mechanical, I'll probably get it and the mouse, which is a Naga Epic with a new shell. If not, I'll probably just go with the BlackWidow Ultimate.
EDIT 2: Wow, either the keyboard is delayed or they've all been pre-ordered.

The good thing about Amazon is that you won't pay sales tax, and you get free shipping on any order over $25. If you're a Prime member (which anyone with an .edu email address can be for free), you get $3.99/item overnight shipping. Also, Amazon will not charge you until the item ships.

Tried the Naga last weekend. I tried so hard to like it, but my thumb kept flicking me off. (It was kinda gross to watch that happen.) Going to stick with the R.A.T. 7 and the Nostromo pad. Three easy-to-reach thumb buttons allow me to modify the 16 buttons on the Nostromo. Hopefully, I won't need more than 64 buttons at max level...
