You can read my story (along with all the others) here:
http://torwars.com/2011/08/25/fan-fiction-competition-2-0-round-one-winners/
I also have a mini-interview where I brought up FA a little bit. If I win round 2, it's on to podcasts! :D
Help me win, please! ^^
-
Voted! Good luck !
-
Thanks a bunch. :D
Worried that I'll get overlooked a bit because there isn't a lot of 'kicking ass and taking names' action in my story.
-
Done and done. Good luck man!
-
Thanks, I'll need it. Getting stiff competition from the guild master of the group running it and this Karvas guy. If I win though, looks pretty good for us as a PvP-RP group. :D
-
Done
-
Got it!
-
Thanks Saint and Jess. I'm holding the lead now, just gotta keep up there for another six days. :D
-
Voted. You better win.
-
Done!
I'll be sure to mention this at the meeting tomorrow.
-
GL
-
Good stuff!
-
In the lead with 40% GO ASTRAL!
-
Done - guys (and our women too) - lets up the votes.

Done - guys (and our women too) - lets up the votes.
Indeed, that Karvas fellow is making it neck and neck. I know not everyone in FA has voted yet because there's only 31 votes so far for Astral, get to it!
-
Done.
-
Anyone know where this music is from?

The mp3 is suggesting this guy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001877/
Maybe one of the films listed?
-
Voted.
Question though. Why don't you do the standard FA signature? Could put more eyes on us that way. Just a thought! Good luck!
-
I haven't had a chance to make a banner for myself yet, to be honest. @.@
-
FA sig do it now... Search for the thread on our forum about updating your SWTOR signature.
Everyone in FA needs to have it
-
Oh, huh, didn't realize we had a guild sig on the official site.
Fixed, I think?
-
Can not login to my swtor account from my phone for some reason. I will try later tonight if I can get my lappy toppy up. In the mean time I have a story to read while driving through Las Vegas!
-
Congrats on winning Astral!!!!!
Be ready to vote in the second round....
-
Ok guys, just saw this pop up, lets all vote again for Astra!!

"...I’m also a member of the Furious Angels, the Matrix Online guild that moved to SWtOR last year. You may be familiar with the ‘follow the signal’ event that hit the tOR forums last year."
-
Done. GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!

It say's I've already voted? Maybe Jess voted and they track it by IP or something.
-
Voted!
-
VOTED!!!
-
What they said!
-
ditto
-
voted!
-
voted. looking good you have about twice as many votes as the next one to you.
-
Come on folks, theres only 30 votes for Astra so far, wheres the other 70 or so in the faction??? Lets show our support for a fellow Angel!!!
-
Oof... Bounty Hunter's catching up to me.
-
done!
-
It looks like this voting is done outside of the SWTOR forums, and is probably then based on IP address. I'm not condoning cheating, but if someone were to vote using their phone and or alternate ip address... there is nothing stopping you.
-
Nah. Wanna win this legit-ly. Only do that if you're in, say, likwid's situation where two of you occupy the same residence. :) Thanks, though.

I am reminded of that scene in Gangs of NY where a guy comes out of the voting area and is immediately questioned by Leo D as to who he voted for and how many times. The guy says twice and Leo's character says "you call that doing your civic duty? Get back in there and vote again!"
In all honesty, I'm really more worried about one of the other writers or guilds doing it, which is why I brought it up.
-
Haha. Well, thanks a lot. :)
-
I know we have more than 47 Angels, get off ur duffs and vote!
-
/bump, please vote

HOLY CRAP!!! VOTE!!!!!
-
I do appreciate the enthusiasm guys - honestly - but I do feel a little iffy about multiple voting... If it's not too much to ask, I'd feel more comfortable if you showed friends and such and asked them to partake in the competition? I know that's more work and all, but... I don't want to steal away a legit win, you know?
But to reiterate, I am very thankful for all the support shown to a new recruit like me. :)
-
You just worry about what you are going to say when you win and let us "shadows" do what we do best.

Its not that we want you to win with "multiple votings"... Its just that we have a lot more members than votes you got...
-
OK so I've been pushing this a bit. Looks like it's paying off. We've got a good lead. I made a reddit post in the SWTOR section as well as hitting up a lot of my friends in real life. Lots and lots of good feedback too.
We should be getting about 5 - 10 more within the hour too. My RPG friends are reading it now. ;)
-
Voted.

2 of mine were real if that makes you feel any better Astral.
Mine and my wife's. She enjoyed your story as well.
If it makes you feel even better you can consider my 3rd vote as my cat's!

By that measure I actually need to submit an absentee ballot from my other cat :-p

He's only 11 in the lead and they still have until Sunday to pull ahead. If you guys can, please ask your friends to give it a read and vote.
It'd be so awesome if AstralFire won!!!
-
You guys are my only friends :*-(
-
I love you man!!!! :)
-
I might be able to get 4 more votes today.. I'll do my best.
-
Well the runner up competition is making a real push today, just this morning he has gone up 9 votes or so. We really need to make a push as well.. Come on team!
I dont care if you have to drive to the local library to vote.. make it happen.
Ways to do it...
1.vote on all your friends mobile devices ie phones etc.
2.Drive to the library, yell out free cookies to anyone that votes!
3.Call up Acorn.
4. Make an appeal to all your facebook friends, GO viral!
5. Get off your fat arse and click vote!!

I tried viewing the page through proxy, but I think the script keeps stalling "Your last request is still being processed. Please wait a while..."
Any savvy IT folk want to take a stab at it?
A friend of mine recommended looking at the torproject.org (fitting name don't you think?), I can't at the moment as the library network apparently doesn't like that site...
-
Voted.
-
Honestly, this is getting pretty silly... now it's just who can rig more votes. They left the voting open WAY too long.
-
Astral is now two votes down and in second place. Permission to rig for black ops. I can proxy serve and I'm not afraid to do it.
-

Which is why I consider this a good opportunity to show how organized and savvy FA can be.
Mharz. proxy sever away!

Exactly what I tried to do earlier.
-
Exactly what I tried to do earlier.
So I tried using the torproject/vidalia bundle. When I use canyouseeme.org I can get many different IP addresses using different tor identities, but even with all browser cache and cookies cleared, every time I go to the poll site it still recognizes me somehow (displaying voted results).
-
Ya, I went to the site on my mp3 player and my iPod and both registered me as having already voted...
Mharz, proxy server!
-
Ahead by 9 votes Astra is.. The Force is strong with him I sense.
-
up by 18 votes nice
-
well i went to a kids birthday party with my daughter today and had all the parents vote on their iphones, plus i sent out emails to my contacts to vote as well as textmsgs and a facebook post, i broght in at least 10 votes today lol, and no proxy involved
-
Frigidsurf claims Astral got 30 votes in 30 minutes. Did all of your friends vote AT THE SAME TIME? lol
Anyway, between our 85 members and several of your "rock the vote" campaigns, I could see how there could be 125 legitimate votes, but that's impressive!
-
nah, it wasnt 30 in 30, I was in my car traveling when I looked at my phone as it was 99 to 102 frigid, I was like CRAP! were in second place, so I took it up a notch and started sending out text messages to my friends, some of which I havent talked to in a year or more. by the time we arrived at the party 15 min later I had recieved 4 more votes, but after that it went a bit slower, I would say over the course of 2 hours we went up to 117 and by 4 hours later we had 124, somewhere after that the 125th one popped in.. it wasnt 30 in 30, I dont know what he was smoking, I was checking it every couple minutes though and that didnt happen.
-

I've never tried proxy servers properly. I just aimed to use sites like http://www.proxy4free.com/list/webproxy1.html
I just clicked vote and nothing happened.
But, it doesn't look like we'll need to do it anyway.
-
needs more i got 4 people from my kin in lotro to vote and i've voted on my home computer work computer and also mobile yet we are still only 9 ahead we need a big final push now of like 20 odd votes
-
I did send out an email to my lan party friends in the area with an unbounded statement "feel free to vote for astral as many times as you like" and they being very capable software engineers and IT folk may have overcome the problems I was having. That said, is the voting still going on until the end of today?
-
You guys are serious! I proxied in and dropped a vote, waited a little while, picked up a new IP, dropped another vote, then suddenly BAM ahead by 20. I figured someone else was on the case at that point so I'll save my cards in case we need a last minute ace.
-
I thought the polls were suppose to close alittle before midnight or so I read on the website. I went to bed after midnight pst and I get up this morning and people have still added more votes to the tally. WTH? when do these things close already... shesh
-
I'm getting a little sick and tired of the comments imperial fan boys are posting on that page. I think we should speak up a little more to combat the naysayers.
edit: looking back at my comment, I may have just inspired a new wave of votes for the bounty hunter story (woops!)
-
Well i just found a massive error in figidsurf story debating whether to point it out the rules below http://torwars.com/2011/08/02/fan-fiction-competition-2-0-begins/ state The setting of your story will be the game setting, in other words, it is 10 years after the treaty of Coruscant yet he refers to a modified YVH droid which were produced by the Tendrando Arms to combat the Yuuzhan Vong considering this droid wasnt produced until 27 Years after the battle of yavin hes a little over 3670 years out of the timeline. Debating whether to post this as his story wasnt bad even though it didnt fit the requirements
The Devil is in the Details after all!
-
Is anyone else wondering why the voting is till on going?
-
Let's keep it a friendly competition please. That being said, feel free to comment on why you liked Astral's story to show that there really are this many people voting for him.
-
I think voting is over and Astral wins by 2% or 6 votes
-
Nice! I left a comment.
-
Astral.. Winner!
-
You deserve it man!!! Congrats! Keep the awesome coming dude.
-
congrats!
-
Congrats..
-
Congrats!
-
Gratz!
-
Congrats man!
-
The interview is up and posted, though he cut out the part where I talked about FA. :(
-
awww why would he do that?
-
I'm not sure. He actually cut about half of my comments. I guess he only picked the responses he thought made for the best reads. (I did come off like an advertisement on the guild questions...)
