It's free and ExternalError can provide the hookup. I'm starting a human champion on Laurlin. Graphics are pretty decent and the story might interest in LOTR fans out there. I figured I'd kick it around for a bit.
-
But but *BROIN* has a maxed out toon in WoW. Don't *YOU*?
-
I'll give it a go.
-
Me, Ana, Revalis, and Ex so far!
-
I'll give it a shot.
-
Well crap.... I guess I'll start the download
-
If we all want to start in the same area, we all need to be human.
-
I can do it
-
Started downloading...
-
Red 6, reporting in.
-
What do you mean "ExternalError can provide the hookup" ?
-
He has several level 65 chars, so he can get us monies and grind stuff.
-
It'll be a few hours before it's done downloading I'm guessing.
-
Did they make all of the storyline quest soloable? And is it still ridiculous trying to get the traits? Such as killing 8million orcs...
-
Downloading...
-
Damn it feels good to play an MMO again.
-
You're so good at that game too.
-
You have my sword.
-
Standard or Hi-Res?
-
I'm doing hi-res. I'd hope my computer can handle it...
-
http://www.lotro.com/ -> page cannot be displayed.
Is my work blocking LOTRO... or what?
-
You're being blocked.
-
Very strange. Usually our blocking system comes up with a suitable message.
Hmmn.. ok time to get that unblocked.
-
Hmm... no worky in IE8.
Firefox fine.
IE 9 fine.
Very strange.
-
lol....Ive already given up on this game, I have some serious connection issues to their server (no clue why, never have issues with anything) the game freezes and refuses to log me back on for like 30+ min so it's abut 30min playtime and 1h downtime for me...lame :|
-
I already play this game. Have since launch. Don't have much in the way of characters, never got into the grind like Ex.
You'll find me on Laurelin as Tolacar. The best damn Hobbit Guardian around. I also have a few level 30s kicking around I think.
I tend to drift in and out. I roll characters, race to the Shire, then get depressed when I've out levelled it and have to venture into the Lone Lands or North Downs.
-
Just realized there's a high rez version of the download. Hour and a half left!
-
Dude. I didn't know this. Crap.
Well, what's the difference really though?
-
graphics...
-
High res textures, to be specific:
http://content.turbine.com/sites/clientdl/lotro/lotrohigh.exe
-
So this will install on top of the old one or do I need to uninstall first
-
Uninstall the other...
-
CRAP.... Alright another few hours won't kill me :D
-
Ill start the download and see how it goes
-
I give up, I'm not going to download another one.
-
I'll give it a shot. Got nothing better to do.
-
im only level 5 and already I want to bang my head against a wall... wall of text, click next....kill run back, wall of text, click next... rinse repeat.

I barely finished the tutorial. Strider? Really? Was that really necessary to set the scene?
It's like when they changed the SWG tutorial from surviving an attack in a shuttle to joyriding around with Han Solo. Annoyed the crap out of me.
-
It gets a better once you get past the initial quests. I'm level 12 already - you level pretty fast.
-
I'm fed up with f*ckin Turbine already to the point where I'm not even sure I want to try out this game. Ex was gonna give me an old account of his, but Wind had been using it. Wind couldn't remember the password, so he sent a password recovery request that never did anything. So he called customer support and they forced him to wait 24 hours before they would do anything, despite him calling 20 hours later. 24 hours later, though, they are closed for the whole freakin weekend.
I've already leveled up a toon to level 11 once before deciding to start over. I don't want to do it all over again on a free account and then switch again once I get the nice one. So I can't really play all weekend now...
-
I tried this game a few months back... The graphics are great. I couldn't stand the game play though. It was like watching grass grow..... so sloooooow. Press 1 .... wait wait wait... press 2 wait wait wait.. Rift was much better in my opinion.
-
Do we have a guild up and running yet?
-
I'm not going to be able to get things up and running until Monday :(
-
Ok so I've got lots of things for crafts and I just want to see if we could make a list of whos running which craft profession so we can send those little things making up space in inv/vault to those who needs it.
Im currently running Woodworker and Forester.
-
I'm doing Weaponsmith and Prospecting, but I know External has a level 65 Weaponsmith and Armorsmith, but I guess just in case he disappears on us...heh.
Ana is doing Scholar and Broin is doing Jeweller, I believe.
-
so I just downloaded the game 2 days ago ... hoping to catch some of online to play together
-
No tailors? Im gonna be sending mails soon :P
-
I'm a tailor (revalis)... just hate the fact I have to rely on a Forester for leather. >_<
But if you're a forester, can I send you all my hide to convert? ;)
-
I am also a weaponsmith. Level 20 and master journeyman. However I won't be back in town until the 20th.
-
I think I'll pass this time. everytime i get into something we end up dropping it a few weeks later. maybe this time it'll have staying power cuz im not in there lol.
-
Tolacar is a Historian profession. Which means I'm Scholar, Weaponsmith and Farmer. Arguably one of the least profitable. But, I have them all top tier, and I'm in the Scholar Guild (which may or may not mean a lot to you all right now).
While I know Ex probably has enough to cover pretty much anything anyone would need, I'm around if you need anything too. I'm quite happy to give out mats (if I have them) and help with some quests if need be. I am lvl 65 so I guess only ask for help if you want to breeze through it. That being said, they've made all the Epic Quests possible to complete solo.
Also, I'm happy to just give advice on things, or where to find bits and bobs. While I haven't rolled alts and played it through like Ex, I have been around since it launched, and know most of the places like the back of my hand. Except, Moria...I hated Moria...
Just add Tolacar, or find me on Steam, and yell.
-
Revalis im a forester... So send me the mats and ill convert and send em back. Im gonna be sending mails now to free my inv/vault! Check your inbox ;P
-
How come we don't have a guild bank in this game??
-
The best form of Guild bank they have comes in the form of Housing.
You can purchase individual houses (one per account) and a Kinship House. Kinship Housing has three chests to store loot, et al. And also allows you to show off your prowess with decorations and ornaments.
It isn't great, and has always been in need of some care and attention since the release. However, I guess it is such a low priority that nothing has ever been done.
The Kinship House should allow ample storage for mats, rep items and other crafted goods. However, the fact you have to travel there and then back to where you were (both travel skills being on a 1 hour cooldown) it isn't great for just popping in and out.
-
Need to find a cooking and metalsmith to finally clean my vault... lulz
-
I just hit expert cooking and farming. And thanks to all the leather you sent, tailoring. :P
-
I have to admit, i tried to get into this, but I just couldn't. I've never been the biggest LotR fan to begin with, and the graphics and lack of PvP just kill it for me. :(
-
I tried to get into LoTRO but it just didn't grab my attention.
What is everyone else honest opinion of the game?
-
I tried it a while back and couldn't get into it either.
That said, there was no excellent faction present.
After overcoming hte IE8 issues for the LOTRO website, I managed to download the installed, but am getting the installer error now.... I don't think it wants me to play this.
