Title: New build for girlfriend

I recently came into some money from selling some unused items. Was going to use the money to upgrade my girlfriends computer. She currently has an intel core 2 duo at 3.0 ghz, 4gb ddr2 ram, and a gts250. I was going to do a complete overhaul, and upgrade to an amd athlon II x3 at 3.2ghz, 4 gb ddr3 ram and a gtx460 of course would require a new mobo. For some reason I just can't justify 400 bucks on it yet seeing as how she's a gamer but more of a casual type. Therefore she doesn't need some powerhouse. I did order the video card. If I take time to do the upgrades I can get her some better stuff. Like a phenom II x4 945 and 8gb ram. Any thoughts?

I ended up getting a tricore for my gf too.  I spent around 4-500 and got her new graphics card, mobo, ram and cpu.  Forget the models though.

What is she going to play?

Bad Company 2, probably Battlefield 3 and hopefully I can get her into SWTOR

Ok just got my internet upgraded from 1.5mbps to 7mbps sustained with a burst up to 12mbps.   Got my new computer, now Im ready for some SWTOR!!!!!

Sometimes the manufacturer makes a newer model and you can trade in for that :-)

I ordered the parts, went with amd athlon II x3 at 3.1ghz, 4 gb ddr3 1333, and a pny xlr-8 gtx460. plus new case, 4 purple led fans, new mATX mobo, 650 watt psu (which I got for free from newegg in my last order i placed), dvd r-rw, and a 500gb hdd, grand total???????? *drumroll************* $465.90 with shipping.   Not bad for a capable gaming machine I don't think. Couldn't get it here soon enough for it to be a suprise seeing as she is visiting her friend in missouri and I wasn't going to pay 98 bucks to overnight it all lol. So it's all under the guise that I'm building the machine for somebody at work :) fun fun
