Title: Forum Posting / Recruitment
Post by: Broin on July 26, 2011, 08:26:56 pm
I know that there is already a thread about this somewhere, but I couldn't find it so I'm making a new one.

Now is the time for us to really to start keeping up with recruitment and posting on our recruitment thread.

With the preorders out there people and the game with a tenative release for Holiday 2011 people will be looking more towards finding a guild that they want to join.

I think right now we have an excellent base.  With nearly everyone in the guild signed up to play or looking to play, and lots and lots of hard core people.

I really think that we are primed to hit the ground running, but now we need to get in on that second wave of people who are out looking to get into a guild.

With that in mind please keep our guild recruitment thread posted up and on the first page.

I know that Anamodiel has been cruising the forums where people are looking for a guild and sending them the link to the challenge.  Feel free to keep your eyes open for any potential recruits and forward their information to Anamodiel or our new Diplomani officer.

Let's keep the ball rolling and picking up speeed in this next phase.

Isn't every hour, spam? I'll check out the posting rules and see whats allowed and whats not.

We've been doing pretty good at keeping it on the first page, or at least better these last few days.

But I've noticed that it's always the same few people posting over and over, making our faction seem much smaller than it really is.

I looked back through just the last 5 pages of posts, and there have been only 14 Angels posting, with the number of posts as follows.
Tbone: 8
Anamodiel: 6
Manic: 4
Mharz: 4
Dagonet: 3
Erathaol: 3
Nocry: 3
Ragnarok: 3
Eeth: 2
Venlar: 2
Keeloth: 1
Kidney: 1
Revalis: 1

We have more than 14 members, right?
Great job, those who have been consistently posting!
Those who have not (or haven't in a while), hop to it!
Post or Anamodiel will get pissed, and if he gets pissed he'll do... something.  Yeah, something.

Broin. If you have a chance post up the link to the topic. That way people who check these boards daily, but not the SW:TOR boards, can easily get there and bump the post.

Can you guys link the recruitment thread in one of the side modules?  Easier for people to get to, maybe will spur more people bumping?

I've been guilty of that now, too.
These things usually happen because I have the reply open, leave the machine for 5 minutes, and return to make the post. In the mean time, someone else has posted.

Must make an effort to double check before hitting the POST button.

Naturally, and just like any other time, we do ask that you not make “spam” posts (to include “/bump”) to inflate the post count of your guild recruitment thread – or anyone else’s. The Guild Recruitment Rules and Guidelines are still very much in effect, and there are several “stickies” at the top of each sub-forum to help you get the most out of the time you spend in our Community.

* Duplicate postings, spam, bumping and trolling posts are not allowed and will be removed and the user may be warned or given infractions.

Examples of bad post topics inside your guild thread: Guild chatter “Has anyone seen X movie or played X game?”, bump posts, negative posts about other guilds, repeated posts about the same topic.

I know our posts are more "RP" orientated... but they may still be considered bump posts.

bump post... that could be virtually anything and everything... just keep the RP imo... every guild has its different recruitment methods

I believe way back when the challenge went live and we created the recruitment thread that Tbone talked to a mod about bump post, forum rules, etc. Now if I recall correctly what we are doing was deemed as being ok after some explanations.

Today our thread fell to the 9th page... it's around 8 pm EST so it's prime time... we really need to start stepping this effort up.

Right now everyone us really on top of the recruitment threads because of the guild beta. It falls off the first page in less than half an hour. Please try your best to keep it updated!

I'm working 12 hour days right now (still at work) so definitely relying on others.

I was concious of this thread, which are guilds talking about the bumping:
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=427593

Also, it appears that David Bass will not be looking at the guild forum per se, as he considers that the guild forum posts shouldn't be bumped as per the rules. This would suggest that if a guild is on page one it has no more influence over that on page 30 in terms of Guild beta testing.

Of course I know that our RPing methods in the thread have been "approved" by BioWare, but I'm just curious if David Bass is aware of such approval [or if he has even seen our posts]. It seems that community interaction would be considered more of a reason to get into beta.

In any case, will continue to keep it up... so to speak.

Most guild beta invites are random. The exception is if you run a fansite/blog/podcast, then you might get invited for that. Having a thread on the first page with neither help nor hurt are chances - at least right now.
