Title: my first custom pc
Post by: Balance on June 29, 2011, 02:59:53 pm
I just finished getting everything set up on my new system and compared to the pre-built one I had before this thing is incredible.  I have to stick with the onboard sound for now because my old sound card is PCI and one of the two PCI slots on this thing is blocked by the video card.

Nice build. I would have suggested a modular PSU.

Also, consider getting an SSD HD asap and moving your OS to that one. I boot up to typing in my password in about 10 seconds from button press. That's with a 3.2Ghz six core AMD.

My first thought was to get a modular power supply but, other than that feature, this one was better than the modular psu options I had in the right price range.  I originally intended to get twice as much hard drive space too, but money was definitely a factor.

although...will two of these 460's in SLI run better than the single 560? only about $30 more for the dual 460's...thoughts, opinions?

Two 560s would be even better.

In all seriousness, SLI shouldn't be the main focus of the build, you should get the most expensive single card you can afford now and if you want/need to in the future you can do so. Buying two 460s now won't be as future proof.
