So I ended up at an old high school friends house for New Years this year. We kept it pretty low key just a few of our friends, her sisters friends and her parents. It was a pretty good time... until around midnight. So this guy walks up to the porch. He was sweating profusely was dressed in a trench coat and a cowboy hat. No one in the house knows who he is but he starts asking us for a ride to the subway station in the town next to ours. We tell him no and that we are all staying in for the night because we were all drinking.
So at this point he walks into the house uninvited and I notice he has one hand behind his back in his trench coat. If that wasn't enough to know something was gravely wrong my friends two pit bulls which are complete sweethearts start growling at this guy. Well he starts talking to my friends sister saying he knows her from Hull High School. She doesn't know him she went to Weymouth High with us. At this point he brings his arm around and we see he's holding a sawed off double barrel shotgun. My friends step dad, my friends sister, her boyfriend and I all immediately jump on the guy. Tim, the step father starts beating the living hell out of the guy. I go for the barrel of the shotgun and point it away from everyone else. When we got him down to the ground I knelt down on his wrist and yank the gun from his hands. Tim continued beating this guy until the cops show up about 3-4 mins later.
Apparently this guy is some meth head who's ex wife lives down the street with their kids. Goes by Mike the Cowboy hence the getup. The court date is tomorrow so we will likely find out more details then. I'm just incredibly grateful no one got hurt, if that gun ever went off it would of taken out the entire room. Weirdest part of the whole thing was I told my friend a few days earlier about a dream I had where someone pulled a gun on my friends and I had to wrestle the gun out of their hands.
I just wanted to share this story with you guys and let you all know how grateful I am to still be here. This whole thing has left me pretty shaken up. However I do have a new found appreciation for life and it really makes you think about how much you take for granted.
Well, I hope everyone's New Year was not nearly as eventful as mine and please remember what really matters in life. Your family, friends and those you love.
Peace.

Holy shit.
I'm sincerely happy no one except the one guy was hurt. I always play out situations like that in my head to prepare what I would do. I hope I never have to experience that, but hope if I did it would end the same way. Everyone safe, bad guy bloody.

Glad to hear everyone was unharmed (except for Mr. Drugged-Up-Tosser).
Stay safe and I hope that Mr. Drugged-Up-Tosser gets everything he deserves (and drops the soap in prison).

I have a funny feeling this guy was going after his ex but she wasn't home. I'd bet anything she was in Quincy Center where he wanted a ride to. They have a big First Night celebration in Quincy Center. I don't even want to imagine what could of happened if this guy went postal there. Lot's of people there, families, kids, etc. We may have ended up saving more than just ourselves.

Has your south Boston suburb always been this rough?

Wow. I'm glad you're alright. That's just freaky.

Not at all this happened in a pretty nice neighborhood. But this is what drugs like meth do to people it's been an epidemic traveling from west to east.

At my house he would've been dead. Good job at remaining calm and not killing the idiot.

You and the other people there showed amazing courage, going after the guy like that and keeping everyone safe. I'm glad everything turned out all right for you and yours in the end!

You mean its possible to make it to your front door?
Glad to hear your safe Venlar. Someone from the west (me) is sorry about the epidemic. We're working on it, but they keep coming up with ways to make this stuff, no matter what get banned.
