It's just a tunnel shooter. No free flying go anywhere-ness. Bleh... minigame at best.

Yeah, they verified it was a tunnel shooter the other week. Hence the star fox reference. What I take from this is just the attention to detail. I don't really care about the space combat, but the graphics look pretty slick!

Looks sweet for a mini-game. There's most probably some legal shit about free-flying Star Wars; S.W.G. did it already...

To be honest, space combat to me isn't a big deal. I played Star Trek Online, that has space combat, it's not that fun. I like this idea more.
Sure, it's mini game style, but I do love the detail they put into it. It looks beautiful.

Hey at least it's in there and it looks very nice. I could care less about the ability to fly anywhere...I spent more time in SWG just flying to targets that it got old fast.

If you want a good space based fly anywhere shoot anything game, EVE.
This aspect of the game looks like it will be fun.

Oh wow. I didn't realize it was a tunnel shooter. :(
I'm no longer impressed.
Looks like SWG will still have to feed my need for Star Wars dogfights.

Space travel is also part of it.
"So, when he gets on his starship, he can choose which planets he wants to go to using a beautiful galaxy map that allows him to travel from star system to star system. Then, once you have your own starship, you are going to want to get involved in battles so we decided to add a combat portion to it."
"We did not want to create a game where you had to fly around in 3D space and try to find your excitement, you go directly into the space fighter game and the excitement is right there. Its like a moment from the Star Wars movies." - Darth Hater Interview with James Ohlen (http://darthhater.com/2010/08/18/gamescom-interview-with-james-ohlen/)

I'm ok with it, I loved Star Fox and really want a good looking rail shooter. I'm disappointed that they is no good multiplayer space combat.

Yet. It could happen.

At first upon seeing the vid I was disappointed. I, as we all were, was expecting an awesome free-flying thing akin to SWG, but despite my expectations I'm not entirely let down. It looks sleek, fluid, fun and as far as tunnel shooters go, not that bad. I'm still looking forward to it, even if I'll be hearing Peppy shouting "DO A BARREL ROLL" in my mind the entire time.
