WHO saw it.. what do you think? Especially the ending? I will write my opinion down once I know someone other than myself has seen it.

I think it was the best movie I've seen in quite some time.  Stellar acting, clever and creative writing, and special effects that didn't get i the way of the story... what more could you ask for?  It pretty much had everything a good movie should have, and then some.  Two thumbs up from me.

Also, they ended it in the best possible way.  Any other way would have been a (possibly minor) disappointment.

Going to see it tomorrow with a group of friends. Will post back when I've watched it.

I really enjoyed Inception; interesting story, great special effects, and it remained engaging (for me).  I thought the ending was rather appropriate.

The movie was a bit lengthy, but this was not a issue for me.

Saw it tonight, very, very good movie.  Much better than Decaprio's last work, Shutter Island.

Here is the question though.. what is your opinion on the last scene
*spoiler in white*
Is he still dreaming.. considering the fact that all the other characters in the movie could have easily been different parts of his personality and subconscience and the fact that when he finally sees his kids they are in the EXACT same cloths he remembers them in.. or did his wife actually just kill herself and he isnt dreaming, his kids just didnt grow up fast.... Also, I find it funny that rich guy was ALWAYS there when he needed him.. ALWAYS..

Spoiler Response:

That's the beauty of the end, you'll never know for sure. I think he may still be dreaming, even though he sees his kids faces. They stated several times during the film that they could pull things from their memories (like houses, etc.) into their dreams.  He could have very easily pulled the memory of his kids faces into that last one.  Also he said that he couldn't see their faces in his previous dreams because of guilt for not calling out to them.  I think he was still dreaming in the end but just as he finally resolved his guilt with his wife, he resolved his guilt with his children and was able to see their faces.  Having the kids in the same clothes and not aging only solidifies my theory.  Who was the "rich" guy you are talking about?  The Japanese business man?

I saw it twice this weekend and loved it. This is another amazing example of why I love Christopher Nolan's work. He doesn't treat the audience like morons, he throws a lot at you and also gives you the power of individual interpretation especially in the end obviously. I liked everything about it. I have a few logic questions though. in white:

So in the first stage of the dream, the van is in free fall, causing dream level 2 to have no gravity. Why then do levels 3 and limbo have gravity?

On the same line, in Level 2, Arthur puts them in the elevator to create a fall/kick since there's no gravity there, but if that's true, how would the elevator fall? I justify it solely by their comment that the deeper you go into dream levels, the less things affect you. ergo, there may have been a small enough amount of gravity to make people float, but enough left for a big ass elevator to fall still.

Also, when Ariadne (Ellen Page) leaves limbo with Fischer and Cobb stays to find Saito (Japanese Businessman), how does he go from being in the apartment/house saying goodbye to his wife to being washed up on the shore again, where those guards grab him and take him to elderly Saito? I just don't get why he was all of a sudden in the water again unless he entered the area as another dream somehow, there's no indication of this at all though.

*End Question*

*comment on the end*

:roll4: So obviously I don't believe there is any way to prove whether or not he's still dreaming. A lot of it seems to point to a dream because the kids are in the same clothes, they are the same age, in limbo his wife even told him he can look at his kids in his dreams he just has to let himself, so a lot does imply it's somehow just another dream. The key that I will take with it though is that he walked away from the totem/top before seeing if it fell or not. So if he doesn't really care if this is real or a dream anymore as long as he feels like he's home, then we shouldn't ;)

*end*

Adad:

I think the gravity and such is as you said; the further you go into the subconscious the less the previous dreams affect them? With the elevator, I believe he blew up the lower set of the elevator cables (that are used to pull it down) and the brakes on the top in order for the elevator's own mechanics to make it go up. Just a guess.

I had a dream about Inception that had all the answers, but then, I woke up and couldn't remember.

spoiler*Supposedly there is a little extra bit of evidence to support the dream idea. Allegedly the actor that is holding the sign up for Fischer at the airport is the same actor that is in the firefight inside Fischer's dream, leading me to belive the dream theory a little more than the reality ending. However, I have not watched the movie again to verify the actor's identitie(s). I'll let you know after I see it again.*

Great movie. I honestly don't even want to talk about this much, considering it ruled me for a couple of days after I saw it. So, I won't put my opinion on the plot, but it was a great movie. Definitely the best I've seen in quite some time.

Loved the movie.  I need to see it a few more times before I feel I can adequately form any theories, though.  I have a theory, but I want to be sure I'm not overlooking any details.
