Well my old mouse was pretty basic and is starting to go to shit, so I'm wondering what you guys would recommend since I'm basically clueless on what to get. Thanks.
-
For Laptop
Logitech VX Nano: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Cordless-Laser-Mouse-Notebooks/dp/B000TKHBDK
Just got mine in today actually. Awesome mouse.
For Desktop
Logitech G9: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-001152-G9X-Laser-Mouse/dp/B001NTFATI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271891902&sr=1-2
OR
Logitech G5: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Laser-Mouse-Blue-Black/dp/B000ODN7VM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271891948&sr=1-1

Yup, I use the Logitech VX Nano for my desktop. I love it. Batteries last a long time, and the feel and precision are excellent. I originally bought it for my laptop for travel, but it works just as well staying in one place!
-
If you want a decent gaming mouse minus the hefty price tag, take a look at the Microsoft Sidewinder X5 - I love mine, personally. The X3 doesn't look bad, either.
-
I use a logitech G9. If you can get a G5, even better since it's pretty much the same specs at a lower price last time i checked. Both are fantastic though.
-
Well guys thanks for all your help. After going to the store and testing all the different mice you guys recommended I decided on the G5. Again thanks for all your help.
-
Ironically enough, my VX Nano has started a double-clicking issue. This keeps me from dragging and dropping anything. I need a new mouse...
-
Picked up a Logitech G500 today because my old Logitech's scroll wheel broke after two years of hardcore use.
I. Love. This. Mouse.

As a last minute Xmas gift, I got...
Razer Naga MMOG Laser Gaming Mouse
and
Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad
My plan is to have mastered both devices before SWTOR!
-
Yeah I've got the Naga and I love it.... Been looking for a new keyboard as well.
-
My buddy has the Razer Naga MMOG Laser Gaming Mouse and he thinks it's the 'ballerist' thing ever.
-
The Naga has been working pretty well. I'm concerned about the Nostromo. I'm going to post my review of it on our Gaming Keyboard thread.
-
So I've been playing Champions Online, which should have a pretty similar combat layout to TOR, with my Razer Naga. It has REALLY helped me get used to the buttons, and now I don't even think about it. Combat feels so much quicker and more fluid with this mouse.
Like TOR is going to be, you can move while you are fighting. Enemies knock you back, maneuver around you, and retreat, so you need to be able to do the same. With the Naga, my hand never leaves WASD and I never have to look down to make sure I'm hitting the right abilities.
Let's say I'm using a move that has an AOE cone of damage. I can quickly adjust my aim mid-swing to make sure I get the guy on the side. If someone retreats, I can follow without stopping to try and attack. Also, for the first time ever since I've been playing MMOs, I feel that ALT and CTRL 1-9 are viable instead of ridiculously awkward.
So if you plan on playing TOR hardcore, and especially if you are going to be a melee class that will be bouncing around a lot, I HIGHLY recommend picking up this mouse. Get it now and hop in a f2p MMO like Champions to get the feel of it so that you will be trained with it in time for TOR. Do it!
P.S. I tried using the Nostromo a few times and gave up on it. It isn't ideal for anyone who is used to a keyboard.
-
I need a new mouse and keyboard. I'll prolly pick up the mouse tbone recommended but what should I get for a keyboard?
-
The one Broin got http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5902

I have this same mouse, it is great!

I highly recommend this keyboard and the Naga
-
I think that keyboard is too big for my keyboard tray. I'd either have to put it or my mouse on top of my desk instead.
-
You could buy this one its smaller but its about 100 dollars more. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4956

I picked both of these up today. I'll let you know what I think. Thanks guys.

For the record, at PAX East they had Razer Nagas to use with the SWTOR demos! My mouse is supported by SWTOR! They also had the Razer Anansi (http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.220723800/categoryId.35156900) keyboards.
My current keyboard has a sticky shift key. And the 7 and 8 keys sometimes get pushed down together (which I think I fixed). Anyway, I could use a new keyboard and now I'm very tempted. If I save up a bit of cash, I might have to get it.
Just think about those extra keys below the spacebar...using those instead of alt and ctrl with the Razer Naga!! PEEERRRFECT!!
-
That was the keyboard I wanted but it wasn't out yet when I got my new set.
-
Yeah, hopefully I'll have the spare money soon. Luckily I don't think I'm in any rush to get it since I am never gonna get into this stupid mother f*ckin g*dd*mn Outlaw-only SWTOR Beta.

Now you can buy it for me instead! Like pay it forward or something!

/giggle
but the anansi keyboard impressed me alot, i use a G510 and it felt just as responsive and having the extra hotkeys for modifers seemed hella convenient, saw the true uses later on in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P7kTecQNQg

So... the Razer Naga. It looks weird and the initial reaction is that there are waaaay to many buttons but the buttons simply put the keyboard's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = at your thumb. It takes anywhere from 3 - 8 hours of gameplay to master and sorta rewire your brain but yeah... it's pretty amazing. I'll be so sad if I ever have to play without it.

God damn! I need to get one of those! :O
-
Two likwidy thumbs up!
Well, with that setup you still have at least one thumb free.
-
I've had the Logitech MX518 for about 5 years and I will never want another mouse. It died about a year ago, and Logitech sent me a new one for no cost.

After playing The Game for quite a while, I'm once again going to reiterate getting a Naga/Anansi combo. I've mastered the Naga and it's DEFINITELY useful in game. On top of that, the additional hotbars (you can have four up at the same time) are arranged two on the bottom, one on the left, and one on the right. You can easily configure the Anansi keys underneath the spacebar to act as triggers for these hotbars, meaning you have access to over 40 keys without leaving WASD, which is essential for my preferred class. I suggest getting this mouse/keyboard now so that you are used to playing with them in time for The Game!
-
The Anansi just recently got bad reviews, so I don't know about the combo.

AGREED.. I have a 10 button steelseries mouse that will be beneficial in game and I know from my experience in the past gaming with a mouse that I can easily keybind different abilities too makes it much easier for proper dps or even tank rotations

So i'm actually looking for a mouse myself.
Since i have gone through 2 G5's and a G9, i think it's time to find a mouse that is more durable for portability. I was looking for some and have gone down to either the logitech G700 or the Razer Orochi.
I'm currently leaning towards the G700 because the Orochi seems to small and also because i've heard lots of mixed reviews about several different Razer products.
Anyone have any experience with the G700?
-
I have the G500 and it's a pretty good mouse, but if what Tbone says is true, the next mouse I'm going to get is the Naga.
-
The Anansi just recently got bad reviews, so I don't know about the combo.
I dunno. I've heard good things:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2380321,00.asp
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/%5Bprimary-term%5D/razer_anansi_review
It doesn't have USB ports (and requires two) and it is not a mechanical board. Other than that, it is the perfect companion to the Naga. Without the Naga you won't be able to fully take advantage of the thumb keys.
-
Well I heard bad things:
http://www.crunchgear.com/2011/02/21/review-razer-anansi-gaming-keyboard/
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/a-hands-on-with-the-razer-anansi/
Such as that you can’t assign “function” keys to modifiers or macros and out of the box, it provides no real additional functionality. Also for a hundred bucks you can, and should, get more keyboard than this.

He doesn't seem to like the Anansi because he doesn't have a need for that many binds, but I think if you are going to do anything that requires more than one hotbar, the Anansi will be a plus. The Naga is definitely mandatory, though, while the Anansi is a bonus.
-
digging the way he binds scroll up and scroll down to separate abilities, and the "hammer of fuck your face" made me giggle.
-
The Naga rocks, its what I use.
-
Maybe it's a sign, but I hit NewEgg's site this morning and this is sitting on the front page

I'll just call it an early birthday present to myself. :P

Good find! Everyone should take advantage! Pretty good price! It's only for the next 24 hours.

Newegg mailed out 15% coupon on all razer products to me. I'm thinking I might get this Naga mouse...

Razer releasing TOR line of products including TOR Naga
Nerdgasm inc (http://gear.ign.com/articles/117/1172154p1.html)
-
Definitely get the Naga, whatever version you can afford. I'm not using the Anansi buttons below the spacebar as much as I thought I would (mainly sticking to 1-12 and shift+1-12 at the moment), so it's definitely optional. The TOR keyboard looks awesome, but I wonder how efficient the track screen/ability combo will work there on the right.
-
I use the merc Keyboard and I swear by it (http://www.supergamer.hu/images/Zboard_MERC.jpg). I use 1 - 11, ctrl 1-11, alt 1-11 and shift 1-11. I have pleanty of buttons. I used to play a warlock in wow and they had somewhere around 40ish abilities.
Now I have a razer naga for MMOs and a razer death adder for FPS's but I really haven't played any MMOs yet to get used to the naga. I also have a razer megalodon 7.1 surround sound headset that is the sex. Highly recommended.
-
Yeah I went with the Black Window Ultimate and Naga combo. Saved like $40 between the combo discount and the coupon. Not a bad deal. I've had the Destructor mouse pad for a while as well.

That looks sharp... I highly recommend that mouse
-
My Anansi looks just like that Black Widow, just with the buttons below the spacebar.

Once again the lefties get left out....
-
Once again the lefties get left out....
Funny story about that,
We were testing all the input systems (keyboard, keyboard/mouse, controller, various keyboard layouts) for Fable 3 PC, when we got the message to start testing left handed style. Out of the 16 of us testers, 6 were left handed. None of us played left handed, nor could even come up with something that we would prefer to use left handed. WASD and right handed mouse all the way!
(Note: Fable 3 PC allows for full key <> functionality swapping so whatever you want you can get. Well minus that one bug.)
-
Yeah I have to re-bind all the keys in every game I play to accommodate for my left-handedness. It's a pain but a necessity none the less.
-
Erathaol and I are lefties, but we both use the standard keyboard/mouse setup.
-
Came into some extra cash this month. Razer Naga should be here Monday.
-
Naga please.
-
Naga please.
Haha, I see what he did there...Funny...very wrong, but funny.
-
Razer Naga Epic. You can never go wrong with a naga. Or Razer in general!
-
I'm trying to get used to the feel, it's smaller and lighter than my G5 (no place to put custom weights :-p). But even so it seems well designed, forcing my hand into the correct position for using the side buttons.
-
Seriously even for FPS (weapon changes) it's amazing. Hell I love it in minecraft too for quick switcing of tools and stuff. SO GOOD
-

tbh I hadn't thought of that. I was debating whether or not to have both mice on my desk, one for fps and one for swtor, perhaps I should give more serious consideration to just using the Naga.
-
I play alot of fps, and I only use the naga.. Once you get use to it, it's really handy.
-
I'm a fan of my deathadder. Great for RTS and MMO, doesn't have a billion buttons I'll never use.
-
Deathadder is what ive used for years, awesome mouse for FPS and good overall mouse. If you don't like the idea of have an advantage over people in MMOs then the deathadder will do you well =) (yea i upgraded to the naga)
