One has to wonder if this hesitation to sign up for Star Trek Online is due to a honest distaste for the franchise or strictly from the fear of being labeled a Trekkie.

I have seen every ST movie with my family or my father.  So, while I am not a Trekkie by a long shot, I do find the multiple incarnations to be quite entertaining and interesting.

My hesitation is taking yet another "universe" with a specific spirit, feel, and idea behind it and putting it in the hands of 1). A development team who must answer to bean counters who are more concerned with what will make money as opposed to sticking as closely to the spirit of the original idea as possible. 2). ....the hoards of fucktards that populate most MMOs that are released.

I just hate to see how badly the idea of Star Trek will be trashed by this game.

So did anyone pre-order?  Open beta starts tomorrow, and anyone who has pre-ordered gets a key.

I think I may reserve the Collector's Edition.
