So with MxO gone and our video-making out of the way, it's time to re-focus on the future. We've had a couple of weeks here to test some new games out. The following is a list of games I've seen you guys recommend, and my opinions on them. Choose the game you'd like to see us play until at least next year...
Aion - This is a popular favorite among MxOers. The game has a fantasy setting in a world split in half. There's the lighter side, the darker side, a third, NPC-controlled side, and an abyss in between for all the fighting. The game is extremely well-polished. It's less open-world than say, Darkfall, but the linear setup makes the game feel populated and full of content. The game looks extremely nice. Gameplay is your traditional grind quests that have you kill harder and harder mobs. Unique to the game is the ability to fly and have flight combat and the PvPvE system that pits two sides and a third NPC side that chooses a side based on the odds at that moment all against each other. A lot of positive feedback. $15/mo
CrimeCraft - Relatively an unknown game currently in open beta, CrimeCraft took us by surprise when we tested it. The name is half mocking WoW and half giving an accurate description of the game. Much more FPS than MMO, most of your time will be spent in FPS PvP matches similar to CounterStrike or other popular FPS's. When you aren't in the matches, you're in the "lobby", districts where you can buy gear, get/do missions and jobs, and learn a craft (tailor, gunsmith, engineer, chemist). As you level up, you can buy/upgrade more skills, wear better gear and wield better guns. You can create Gangs and create a Gang hideout. The great thing about this game is that anyone can jump in and start playing and be good. It satisfies the insta-PvP craving of those of you that like to kill things and always be able to play as a team, but the player-driven economy and crafting appeals to those of you that like to become an important crafter and drive an economy. Highly addicting. $10/mo (first two months free with purchase).
Fallen Earth - At first glance this sounded like the potential to be a Fallout 3 online. My testing with this game, however, was quite a disappointment. The controls were extremely awkward, and the game seemed not only unpolished, but boring. Test for yourself and see, but I couldn't spend more than about two hours in this game before putting it back on the shelf.
Mortal Online - Admittedly, I never tested this game. The fear was that it would be another Darkfall. Set in the same medieval sort of atmosphere, and also having FFA PvP and an open world. If anyone has played it, feel free to post your comments.
Note: I know some of us were playing SWG and others were playing EVE. These aren't on the list as I feel the games are, at least, past their prime, and really don't allow for us to be taking part in a new community/new game. Also, SWTOR, APB, and The Agency are still our big 3 for next year. This list consists of games that have already come out or are coming out in the next month.

I'll play either Aion or CrimeCraft.
CrimeCraft has been very addicting for me. I'll be playing for what seems like two hours, and, before I know it, it's 2am and I have work in four hours. I haven't found a game like that since Fallout 3. Whenever I'm on my computer, I'll surf the internet for about 30 minutes, and then hop in-game, and before I know it, time will have flown by, I will have forgotten to eat, and my phone will have 10 texts. This is a game that I can easily play solo and dominate. I'm sure that if we all put some time into this game we could be a force to be reckoned with.
Of course, for me, even if we don't decide to play CrimeCraft, it won't really be about the game as much as it is about the people I game with. If we play Aion, and, for whatever reason, I don't like it, I'll still play it because I'll be on a team with some of the best gamers and friends in the world. Whatever we decide, I'm all for it.
But I really suggest CrimeCraft. OPEN BETA! TRY IT!

Given the options, I'll be sticking with EvE for the time being. I'm having a lot of fun being a lone-wolf courier. I'm actually surprised more FA haven't taken a liking to it.
From what I've seen of Aion, I'm not at all interested. Take away the flight mechanic and it's just another WoW variant. Lots of grinding to reach a metaphysical number so you can wear fancier armor.
CrimeCraft is cool, but at the core it is just a shooter. The only thing that seperates it from Counter Strike or TF2 is the crafting and forming of gangs. There's absolutely zero lore, so there's absolutely zero context for anything that occurs in the game. Why not just go back to our Counter Strike nights?
I'm really holding out for SWTOR. Call me petty, but I can't bring myself to give SOE any more money. I have no reason to believe that they will continue to support The Agency after two years. The game is still at least a year away and it has already experienced staff cuts.
I've emailed BioWare asking them to purchase the MxO license. I'll keep you guys updated. :P

...What he said...
No Aion - I'm not digging that fantasy genre. I have yet to try Crimecraft, but a FPS-ish game for a group like ours? I just dont feel thats the right fit. SWTOR is the best option IMO as well. It'll be EVE for me until then - and I too am surprised more FA havent taken a liking to it. It's a shame really - it may be an older game but it is in no way dated or past it's prime!
-
you know.. aion looks really good... but im not ready just yet to shell out 15 a month =/
-
I'm going to wait until SW:TOR comes out, to be honest about it. I'll be released between Q4 2009 - Q3 2010 ish (I think most probably Q 3 2010, although play.com's release date is 27/11/2009). I'd rather save my money for that game and concentrate on getting through my second year of university.

I'm thinking about getting into Dungeon and Dragons: Online again. http://www.ddo.com/ Basically they are going the way of micro-transactions for content, lots of free content for low level playes, less for higher level player, but you can purchase the higher level content. Or just pay $15/month for access to all like a normal MMO. Plus its Turbine, so its not just a little MMO but a full, good developed MMO, a closed Beta for all the new stuff is happening right now. (Turbine does AC2, and LotR:Online too)

I do like first person shooters, so I voted for Crime Craft, but to me it might as well be CS or Halo.
That said, I do love EVE and wish I could log on more, however for the time being I'm content with doing a few missions here and there while I finish leveling all my learning skills to V and mission running/social skills to V (sometime around November I think).
-
I'm with Eroz here, I'll probably get back into DDO while I wait for SW:TOR. That being said, I wanna play WITH the rest of you Angels so whatever game the majority chooses I'll purchase and play.

Also, I think for the next few months I'm hitting up a few xbox games hard. In a few minutes I'm leaving to get Madden10, also HaloODST is comming out soon. On PC I'm hopeing Starcraft2's november date sticks - that's doubtful though.
Why no love for starcraft2?

Because no one knows when SC2 is ever coming out. Although Xbox loving time for Batman: AA on the 25.

Xbox loving time for Batman: AA on the 25.
BAH! Batman: AA is better on the PS3 for several reasons - mostly because there's no exclusive content for the Xbox.
BUT! On the PS3:
* Able to play as The Joker in eight Challenge Map which will be released as downloadable content on August 25th on the PlayStation Network. This DLC will be free.
* There will be a "Batman Arkham Asylum Batcave Outpost Apartment". Apparently, this will be only for PlayStation Home. It will contain items such as the Batsuit, Batmobile, and Batwing, along with various Bat-gadgets. This content on PlayStation Home will be free.
* The comic book "The Road to Arkham" will be given to PSP owners via download on the PlayStation Network. This comic will be free but will most likely NOT be able to be read by your PS3.
* The PlayStation 3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum will use some elements of SIXAXIS Motion Control.

So according to this poll, 100% of us can't agree on anything...
Sigh...
Well at least everyone log on to TS as you play your separate games. We'll figure something out, but using "The Old Republic" as an answer is getting old...that's at least a year or two away. I mean, we can start making site content for it if you want...
-
And Arkhum Asylum + PC + Nvidia Physx = win
-
Yeah I say main thing for everyone is if you are gaming then just log onto TS...
Chances are you'll find someone interested in what you are donig and who knows maybe you'll start a new trend and get everyone hooked on whatever you are playing.

I am not going to vote but I will play whatever now that my computer is up and running.. I do spend a significant amount of time in a game called Travian on S5 but it is about half way to end game so it would be too late for anyone else to start.. however, the "alliance" i am in is made up of a ton of really good players so I am looking at what they are playing besides Travian to see if there is anything worth us getting into.. no worries though, FA is my home.. I am just dabbling with them until we pick a game ;)

I have at the moment only tested out CC, and therefore will not be casting a vote just yet. I have to say, CC is an interesting distraction, AND highly addicting. I'm wondering what kind of impact we could make on it given the limited availability for RP

Third open beta of Fallout Online (http://www.fonline.ru) began some hours ago.

Also, I was lead to believe it was cancelled earlier this year?

Hmm how was it cancelled if I'm playing it now? :)
Mainpage is down atm, seems that too much players here.
Archive with two torrents: client and game files for it (http://depositfiles.com/files/k0xw8rl2w) (Dunno where to put files on the net, so I chosed this file hosting).
Unpack client into any folder, put critter.dat and master.dat into it, unpack music archive into data\sound\music. Launch FOConfig.exe, and then launch the game.
I don't know address of second, more english speaking server. Need dfonline.ru to be back for it.
