Title: APB (MxO 2?)
Post by: Tbone on June 12, 2009, 12:07:09 am
Take a look: http://pc.ign.com/articles/990/990972p1.html

Urban setting, organizations, PvP, missions...

This one has a matching system that pits you against the opposing players, though. Also, no HJ...heh. Worth a look. Hadn't heard of it before, but IGN puts it as most anticipated right behind The Old Republic.

Dude that looks sick!  Wonder how laggy it'll be though with the driving n such, and how the overall game mechanics will be like.

Yeah this is like Grand Theft Auto Online I think. I'd probably enjoy it actually.

I'm up for it!
Looks like 2010 is gonna be a good year for different MMOs, that is if these games actually release when they predict.  We all know how accurate launch-dates REALLY are...

They've more than made up for that in this new game, which has some pretty slick built-in design tools .. but no cohesive story.

That's one of the things that causes the hair on the back of our necks to rise, and probably those of the marketing team as well. When asked about the game, Jones said "Well, we don't really have an overarching story." In fact, their website's FAQ will tell you, "What will the outcome be? The great thing is, we don't know."

I think it's funny that they bother to bring up the notion of an outcome at all after they flat out say that there's no story to begin with.  A story with no outcome is one thing, but an outcome with no story?

And we all know that MMO's never really end, anyway.

Oh wait... (http://thematrixonline.com)  :P

The post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk setting is very intriguing.  Almost like Johnny Mnemonic meets Fallout.

I'm interested to see if their matchmaking system works as well as they're proposing, and if it occurs in the live gameworld and not just in an instance.  I think I've resigned to a steady mindset of cautious optimism at this point.  :P

Yeah, this looks like GTA online.. while the concept sounds awesome, i imagine it would get a little stale and boring without much point to it =/

The graphics seem to be really good, but with no story line it would grow old very quick.

This game looks like it'll pretty damned cool.

However with the lack of overall story is not a good idea.  We saw what happened when the story was made pretty much useless in Darkfall.

....but who knows.  I'd be willing to check it out.

If this is any idea of what PvP might be like, that will be sweet: http://www.apbgame.com/apb_movies.php
