Our hamlet has been challenged by Misanthropy, a no-name clan looking to make their name. They had applied to join CotC, and decided to siege us without letting CotC know. Despite this, CotC decided to back them, allowing the clan shard carrier to hide in United Front's hamlet.
We asked for help from our allies (Oromea, etc.), however DUSK has a non aggression pact with CotC, and therefore so does DAWN. So none of our allies have decided to help us.
A small group of us (maybe 8) tried to rush the shard holder. We died to their 30 or so. More of the CotC clans continued to roll in as we waited.
To be continued...

freiking-A!! i've jsut about had it with Oromea... at first i was like, "maybe they'll change, maybe they'll stop this nonsense with DUSK" but no... apparently They feel that a Non aggression pact is more valuable than helping an ally... come on! they obviously need to learn a lesson in whats right! i mean they shouldnt even hesitate at the thought of helping us.... im not saying that i hate Oromea.. i really like their players.. its just that their leadership sucks balls... and not any little monkey balls... im talking about big king kong balls here...
again i do apologize for leaving the fight after our first attemt of attacking the shard holder... but real life stuff came up.

The result...
Hyperion, CotC's enemy, got wind of our siege and offered their help. They couldn't make it in time, so they sent a team of mercenaries, TheMercs and Rainbow Ninjas. Our clan shard was down to about 40% when these guys came through and rolled them. They protected the hamlet until the timer was out, and in return we gave them 75% of the wager (so we gave them 15k and got to keep 5k). Not bad considering the alternative would have been losing the hamlet and gaining nothing. They were pretty cocky, but in general nice guys. Impressive soldiers, as they beat back the enemy several times despite being outnumbered.

not bad... sadly happend in the middle of the night of my time. but good to hear that it went well.
and another reason to kick oromeas ass one day.

That is awesome, I read this on the way to work and people on the train must have wondered why I kept chuckling. What a crappy situation to be in but so great to win out in the end! Sort of makes you feel like the cause is worthwhile.
It's also funny to think that if they HAD won the hamlet, they would have regretted it :P They clearly had no idea what they were doing.
Another positive is that this will have got our name out there and more people will see our purpose than was possible before. Perhaps it will weed out a few of the clans we were searching for to join our cause!

Yea.. i had to put my 2 cents into that thread... hope you dont mind... kinda mad at oromea... lol
-
Yeah, Knight, please back out of the thread. Our "neutrality" towards the situation is quickly starting to look like we're pissy. Part of our persona is keeping our head. Be cool.
-
shite; middle of the night for me; glad we kept the hamlet and found some people who had the capacity and desire to help.
ahh, the joy of the edit button! T, now read your darkfall post; nice read. Could you post the names/ clans of those willing to help? would be nice to repay them by random friendly acts if i see them around.
-
Well it seems your post has turned these various guilds on each other lol. Interestingly enough Lexxina from Heroes Fate claims they were going to help, but were "held up" in Dwarf Lands. Did you receive word of this at all yesterday T? It could've been lost in the swamp of tells you must've had last night....but in any event if you want to try and find people to get an actual "fuck this all race alliance noise" alliance sort of thing going, I strongly recommend talking to Heroes Fate. I dunno what their numbers are these days, but Lexx is a lot like Broin, so I'd imagine he's probably just as irritated with Oromea as we are...only Lexx is Canadian and owns 2 cats....-no homo-....

We've had a lot of positive feedback to that post. I think people see it as a breath of fresh air from all the political mud-slinging their used to. Coalition of the Chillin sent me a message saying they didn't lead that siege and that, out of respect for our neutrality, will not siege our hamlet in the future. No response from Oromea and friends. With DUSK falling apart and now their own kind not in any mood to help them, they're probably not feeling too good about the state of things. Or maybe they are in blissful ignorance in their city.
We were able to turn a negative into a positive, and I think my "balanced write up" will get us a pretty good rep to those who may not know much about us.

ive said it once and im gonna say it again... i really think that WE are the ones that are gonna start Agon WWI... lol seriously
-
I hope you don't mind T but I put up a quick note thanking everyone who helped, nothing more. With Knight's posts, there was a response or two about how we claim neutrality yet we say we're allied with Oremea, may need some clearing up. Also there was a post saying that no one touched on the subject that we turned down the alliances invitations and actually turned on them. May want to address these...
-
Yup, I've addressed all of that.

Tbone, as always man, great write up.
I was there for most of the 4 hours with a few interruptions for real life stuff but here goes my perspective of the siege.
The Seige, Phase 1; GETTEM!
Our first thought was that we could just rush in and kill the shard barer. We saw where he was on the map and got together as many of our members as possible and rushed. They guarded the shard barer in a hamlet belonging to United Front iirc. We were outgunned to say the least and I really need to point out that they were exceptionally skilled at keeping him guarded and hid. I still would love to know where they hell they kept him the whole time. Needless to say we died. A lot. The more times we tried to rush, the more people they added to their guard. They used some pretty good tactics using multiple mounts to block the spiral ramps leading up to the clan house where we figured he was guarded. One thing to note as well, for those of you never in a siege… It seems only certain ranks of a guild are allowed to see on the map where the shard barer is. But this, after a while became bugged. At times we couldn’t see the location at all and at others, it was a completely different name. This was a real difficult challenge added to the mix. We were out-manned and to be honest out-skilled however we did not give up. We continued the attacks as futile as they seemed to be. Once we got near the 30 minute mark we decided all we could do was defend.
The Seige, Phase 2; Stand your ground!
Most of us ran or rode to Kings Holdfast to bind as it’s a stones throw from the Hamlet. Not knowing exactly how many enemies were waiting at the Hamlet we decided binding at Kings would be a close second to being able to bind at our clanstone. We rush in and sure enough there’s a welcoming party there waiting for us. We did the best we could to rush in and bind to our own stone. Some of us make it, others die on the way in. The attackers eventually dispatched us all but we did the best we could in disrupting their attacks on the clan stone. One thing I noticed is that all it took was a few hits to get them to back off the clan stone. They seemed more afraid of dying than being intent on destroying the stone. I just thought that was interesting. In any case they were very efficient and getting that stone down quickly. Before we knew it, it was half down. Things were looking pretty grim until…
The Seige, Phase 3; The Calvary!
Out of know where we see a bunch of Mercs and Rainbow Ninjas swoop in. At first site of these guys we thought, “shit, they’re brining in even more people”. Then on teamspeak we hear, “wait! They’re attacking the other guys! Holy…!” Talk about a twist of events… Within… I’m almost certain… 5 minutes, they destroy all of the attackers. It was brutal. They came in a few more waves but were almost instantly destroyed by the Mercs. I have mixed feelings about the Mercs but I can say honestly it was impressive to watch them fight. They were coordinated, precise, tactical and fucking tough. Without a doubt something we should strive for.
It was an emotional rollercoaster and a ton of fun. I’m not even upset about all the crap I lost.
As for the politics:
Even when we “knew” we were going to lose the Hamlet, I was more upset that Oromea simply turned their back on us; Even after numerous times of FA assisting Oromea defend their city. As upsetting as it would be to lose all the work that we have put into our hamlet that feeling of betrayal (my words) was worse. I call it betrayal because Oromea has sold out to the Alfar zerg in order to save their city. What that tells me is they care more about their city than their principals. They have proven to me that they care more about protecting their assets than protecting Mirendel. I fail to see any integrity in their alliances and political decisions. Read their website to see the contradictions:
The Oromëa
In pursuit of a common ideology:
* That the forests of Mirendil, all manner of life contained therein, and the Mirdain nations founded thereupon are sacred,
* And that their protection is a task divinely bestowed upon the Mirdain race in specific.
----
# Alfar: The blackest hatred exists between Mirdain and Alfar. As minions of their dark thief-King, all Alfar found above the surface of their caves are to be put to death. Until such time as the Crown of our Mother has been returned, and Melek’s debt paid tenfold, the Alfar shall bear our wrath, and remained entombed in their festering graves.
A while ago I made the decision to boycott Oromea and their alliances. I don't use their city anymore and don't miss it at all. Yesterday's events simply underscore my disdain.

(Broin Ravenstorm): He should be on fairly soon
(Dorundain Dunedhel): Ah, Cool
(Dorundain Dunedhel): If you could ask him to PM me when he gets a chance, I'd apprecaite it. :)
(Broin Ravenstorm): Not a problem
(Dorundain Dunedhel): Thanks a lot.
(Broin Ravenstorm): Anytime
Walks away from the chat thinking someone is a bit nervous about where they now stand with the community especially with their alliance falling to crap.... And that he may now see the truth in all the words Tbone spoke to him last week.

More like he was pissy because we called it like we saw it with his clan. As a leader myself, I know that the last thing that you do is accept responsibility for any mistakes your making!
