Title: Walrus is leaving his CM job
Post by: Avzeke (Khr0n1k) on April 02, 2007, 04:14:31 pm
http://thematrixonline.station.sony.com/players/news_archive.vm?id=343&month=current

So as of today, Walrus is no longer community manager of MxO, he will still be producing the game but we will no longer be seeing him really that much at all since he will no longer be writing articles and since he hasn't really posted much on the forums in recent months that will probably get even lower. He is also going to be producing a yet unannounced MMO, which means he really wont be putting anymore time in MxO, probably just less. To me the saddest news of all is that Rajinn will be replacing him, I don't know about you guys but I don't like that guy, he has caused a few problems in the past and a few behind the scenes also. He just comes off really cocky to me and acts like he is better than everyone else. Many of you may not even like Walrus but I would pick Walrus everyday over Rajinn.

In a year? What makes you think that? They're not really loosing money on us, we just don't have any NEW players... they've cut the staff way back, so surely we're enough to support them, right? I mean, we may not be SOE's cash cow, but they can't really cut us, can they?

And who is Raijin? Never heard of him, either.

He is the guy who who was around after we went to SOE and then came back again and helped Walrus out on the forums for awhile and then started the whole Champagne room crap and started picking favorites, but on the old forums he was the one who gave people special titles, and then messed up a few LESIG events and did unnecessary Global messages during them and I got the vibe from Rare that he didn't like him either.

I really hope Pirus is wrong. :( The story is finally going in an interesting direction.  I really hope they aren't anywhere close to cutting the game.

I dunno I don't think it will be anytime real soon unless something catastrophic happens last couple months SOE has been investing more into the game from what I have seen, like hiring voice actors and animators for a bunch of new cines and actually incorporating MxO into banners on SOE sites and adding MxO to their big convention thing along with other stuff.

Considering it's been wrote up to chapter 12 AND it's a contract binded game. it is NOT going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry pirus.

I pray that's not a last ditch effort. Hopefully some fruit will come of it.

Walrus was actually a rather awesome guy. I've spoken to him in live chat back in beta when he did an IRC interview thing, and I've spoken to him in real life at the Block Party. He was rather awesome and genuinely seemed to care about the game.

Raijinn on the other hand...well...I only met him at the Block Party. He was acting all cool with a couple guys (Who I assume were from another game) and I walked up and introduced myself to him, and he looked at me like I was a bug on the ground, got this disgusted look and just turned away from me like I was never even there. What a pole-smoker.

Walrus on the other hand, shook my hand, said he was happy to meet me, sat down and talked with me for like 20 minutes, and then we went and talked for a while by the booth while Broin was kicking his ass.

Regardless...this is truly a sad day. I'm now genuinely concerned about community relations for the game. It could be worse, however. Raijinn could be becoming the Producer for MxO. Knock on wood. *knocks on Manic's head*

That would be a god-send in itself.

Well to my understanding and after some reading .. aswell of talking with Tbone about it a couple of weeks ago. They took this game to get rights to another game .. i think the up and coming DC Comics MMO. Also, there is an article which I would have to find explaining they also took this game to be able to pick what Warner games they want or something to that affect.

Well, at least Brewko wasn't left in charge. Though it doesn't look like Rajiin is much better.

An interesting phrase I caught is that "Rajin will now be the eyes and ears for the devs". What does this mean? All the devs are working on other games. We're dealing with a one man show and his job is just to keep shit from exploding. I imagine Rarebit will be called upon soon...

NoRepro, Dracomet, and Rarebit are next. They'll all be gone by the end of the year.
