When I lived at the firehouse several years ago we had a mouse problem.  The best solution was the simplest.  One old fashioned spring mouse trap and just a dab of peanut butter as the bait.  I swear to you that it caught them in less than 24 hours.

Don't get the candy pellets to poison them. You'll eventually end up with a dead, decomposing rat in your apartment that you can't find.

Ok a little insane, but this never fails.

Take a large bucket. Now take a paper plate and put a string through the plate, across the center. Now, across the top of the bucket attach the paper plate so you can push one side of the plate down and the other side goes up.

Now put a little dab of peanut butter right in the middle of the plate. Now take 2x4 or some other long piece of wood and lead it up to the edge of the plate. Leave this up overnight, all the mice should be in it by morning. Here is a nice Paint picture of what I'm talking about.

You can use water in this, but if the bucket is tall enough the mice shouldn't be able to get out. IF you use water, the mice will die, but they never will come back.

Note: this works great outside. You should also put your bunnies away for the night.

The bucket doesn't fall onto the mouse, the mouse falls into the bucket.

That is the most ingenious plan ever!  Do that!  And take pictures!
