Okay, I'm now crashing EVERY time I log in, Rogan and nocry have taken the brunt of my colourfull lingo (thanks guys :D) and now I'm really getting pissed off.
Virtual memory.... I was wondering what this is.... 'cause I'm getting a warning saying it's too low.
Thanks all.

Ahh, i think this is a easy fix. Go to your control panel, system>advanced>Performance/settings>Advanced>Virtual memory, change>
Then click the bubble that says custom size and set it to what it says is recommended down there and set initial and max to the same number even though they are probably different right now.
-
thanks :D I'll see if it works later on, if it does I owe you a virtual beer.
-
also you may want to run some spyware software some spyware is designed to eat your virtual memory (btw its basically your system memory this might cause less confusion).
-
Yeah I tried that before, I don't have any evil thingys on my CPU @ the mo so.... I'll try later on... seeing as I'm studying.... :(

Virtual Memory is actually a space on your harddrive that acts as an overflow for you physical memory(the ram sticks in your computer) it is also called the Windows swap file.
Some good tips on Virtual Memory is to make sure the initial and maximum size is the same since this causes less work on your harddrives and more time is actually used for using the known allowed space instead of trying to find more if it needs more and reducing the reserved if it needs less. Also it is good to have your virtual memory on a separate drive from your main, this increases performance since this relieves your main hardrive from having to do more work than it already has to do, it needs to read and write at the same time and if it has less reading and writing to do then you will get faster access times.

nice one khronik. noted.
-
Also, it's generally a good idea to have your initial and maximum swap file size be anywhere between 1.5 and 2.5 times the amount of physical RAM you have. For example, I have 2GB of PC3200 DDR Dual Channel RAM, and my swap file is set to be 4096 Megabytes (4GB, roughly). It would be slightly larger than that, except Windows XP does not permit swap files in excess of 4096MB.
-
Well then again if you have 2gigs or more a swap file isn't even needed really :)
-
expanding the size of the virtual memory on the computer isn't the key issue here that wont fix the problem permanetly its just a temporary fix.... If his system ram is getting filled up with crap then he has a problem that needs to be addressed just expanding the "overflow buffer" isn't going to help if it gets filled up as well. The cause of the problem needs to be found out first whether its caused from spyware or many programs running in the background and yes i didn't want to state the whole definition of virtual memory to confuse him but nevertheless it has been done.

I'm having a black screen blues :P When I play I freeze then the screen goes black for 15 seconds (ish) then comes back. after it does this after 3 times the game crashes, extremely annoying in PvP,.I'm currently doing a Spyware and Virus sweep.... I'll do a defragment too.... Any ideas (I'm running on 512MB RAM too if that's any help).

Okay now I can't even get on teh fuckin game! it's saying:
The file client.dll could not be setup properly
No available render modes were detectable
The application is now shutting down
ARGGGH

U been downloading a lot of pr0n lately?
-
Not on this cpu lol, nope, never have... why? :P
-
And none of my other games are working either!
Virus scan ahoy!
-
Sounds like a gfx driver issue. You weren't stupid enough to let Windows update anything it likes without asking... were you?
-
I don't let windows update anything... cause errr.... *cough*... Ya know they wont like my windows...
-
Aha
I assume you do use Windoze Update though...
-
No I don't think so... I put the settings to "notify" so it doesn't download but asks me.
-
Try: http://windowsupdate.62nds.com/
It's a Firefox-only site
-
Downloaded and installed.... lets see if this makes any difference! :D
-
Nope :( *sniff*
-
Okay. updated my graphic drivers but when I crash my catalyst driver pops up and says that it ain't responding or something or other :(
-
Try removing all gfx drivers, rebooting then reinstalling them. Use the ATI cleanup tool also
-
Have you gotten it fixed yet Subb? Man i hope you get it figured out bro, best of luck to you.
-
Nope, I've gotten a bluye screen blues too :S
-
It's now saying that my accelerator or something or other is not responding; hence I crash in-game and on other games.
-
and erm... why the hell is my cpu playing a siren noise >.> all I'm doing is defragging....
-
A siren means something is wrong, like the cpu is overheating, a fan stopped running, low voltage or over voltage is detected.
-
:O oh shit...
>.> My gfx accelerator ain't working now this....
-
I think you need to just goto dell.com or .whatevereurope and buy a computer.
-
>.>
-
Just get a whole new computer...
-
I think that is a new pc.
-
*sniff* I've already thrown 24 computer out the window.... >.>
Just need to sort out my gfx accelerator problem now.
-
How long ago did you get that comp?
-
end of september I think...
