It says that the Machines dispatched The Assassin.  Is this just speculation and/or assumption on part of Gamespot, or is this something that I completely missed during this event?

My apologies if this has already been discussed in game or on TS.  My game kept crashing last night at around 6pm, so I decided to call it quits for the night.

They are speculating based on the press release. Saying that Morpheus may not be dead and saying that the Machines dispatched the Assassin are both assumptions.
