The following are just my random thoughts about the fact that I would go, but why I probably shouldn't go.
I dont' know about you all, but I'm sick and tired of hearing about roadside bombs and car bombs killing United.States troops. Why do we have to follow the "rules" when they don't? Its kinda like trying to win a b-ball game when one team is blatantly and obviously cheating and the refs never call em on it, but the other team is called on any and every mis-step and mistake. Fuck that! If you ever see the following headlines, I'll admit from now, that it was probably me and you won't be seeing or hearing from me for a while bebcause I'm sure I'll be in big trouble. But imagine the message it would send.
"23 Insurgents killed when camel bomb goes off near suspected hideout." or "Local Insurgent ring-leader taken hostage by man in hockey mask and forced to listen to Brittney Spears and Ashley Simpson Music for 72hrs straight."
or even worse yet:
"5 Insurgents taken hostage by bald black man in dark shades and trench coat and made to play The Matrix Online and Grind non stop from lvl 1 to lvl 50."
That is why I should not be sent to Iraq.
Just venting some random thought and frustratiions. We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum browsing.

We follow the rules, even when they don't, because we know what is right and consistantly strive for what is right.
If they're wrong, we will (actually, we are) hunt them out.
Not ment to be a political responce.
I like the second headline. :D

mmmm yeah unfortunately, the game aint level either - its basically up to date military technology and training against small groups of rouge elements with basic weapons skills. These guys have the advantage of playing on their home field, but with the visitors having so much power, its them that are called out.
The ref would take out the other side, but we know they wont play by the rules; its a given that the ref automatically calls em up, because every play they make is "illegal". Their image can't be tarnished further, but your team wants to maintain a certain level of respect.
I guess thats not political
-edit-
heh I sorta think thats like FA vs RIP or something ;)

They dont have uniforms. How are you going to play dirty tricks on a foe who looks like a civilian.
-
I can almost guarantee that we have lots of rangers/delta/SEALs over there that are "not in uniform".
I couldn't just couldn't gurantee I wouldn't be out playing "dirty tricks" on these insurgents every chance I got. >:-D. Then again, I'm mostly joking here....of course.
-
well, you gotta remember that most of these dirty tricks are the only thing they can do... there is no real option of trying to defeat an "occupying army" (in their eyes) when there is no army to oppose them. Its basically sneaky civilians, but in reality - I don't see another option.
I don't want to compare at all, but Nazi's occupying France is a good example of underground resistance working..., but that resistance was a little more ... sophisticated

You guys are taking this post way to seriously. Employ a little humor to my original post and you'll get my drift.

reasons why i shouldn't go to iraq
*suspicious people will get bitch-slapped
*people who look at me funny will walk away with a shiner
*everytime i get hungry, someone dies
*the snow piled in the back of my truck would turn to slush, hence flooding the country, killing all the bad guys YAY WE WIN!! :p

I am humorless! bah humbug! Fetch me some coals!
-
To add to Grim's list....
-My policy: Shoot first.....live to ask questions later.
-My second policy on the whole soldiers "torturing captives" thing: It could have been worse. We could have cut off their heads and sent the video to their families.
-My 1st suggestion to my commanding officer upon arrival: Send out a memo to the problem neighborhoods. 1 week from now, we will tactically nuke said neighborhoods if you do not turn in anyone known to be working as or with insurgents. Failure to do so will automatically void your status as innocent civilians.
-Since the previous suggestion will no doubtedly be turned down and have me locked up in the nearest psych ward, I'll offer my second proposal.: Send in The Nemi.
-
if nemi's going i'm STAYING HERE!!!! :p

you want a good idea of just WHAT is really going on in Iraq? www.optruth.org you'd be amazed. this isnt some Michael Moore extreme leftist documentary. this is comming directly from the mouths of the soldiers who are in iraq, have been in iraq, and their families. some of you may very well be shocked. Rorin, im sorry to hear you lost a friend for such a bullshit cause.
