Title: The new crash reporter.
Post by: Anonymous on September 30, 2004, 07:40:06 am
Just out of curiosity, has anyone actually made this annoying thing work?

(not /ccr or /bug - I mean the launcher crash reporter that pops up when you first log in.)

To get rid of the window, go to your matrix install directory.

Create a new file named: useropts.cfg

Put the following in the file:

Code: [Select]
EnableCrashDumpUploads = false

Werd.

To re-enable, either delete the file, comment it out with a '#' or set the value to 'true'.

Code: [Select]
# EnableCrashDumpUploads = false

Code: [Select]
EnableCrashDumpUploads = true

Double werd.

Note that the dumps are still occuring as that param was not disabled... just in case they get the reporter into a workable state.

Edit: The useropts.cfg file already exists in the QA install folder (it tells the game to connect to QA instead of regular beta), so just edit the one that is already there and toss that line in at the end.

Oh the irony... but it's nice to see that Eris took the idea I suggested to her in-game! Yay!

No problems for me.... when I log on and get the crash reporter box appear, I fill it in if required and send it. Works fine. If I cancel, it cancels fine.

I was wondering about that last night, it started after the night I kept  jacking in about half mile ABOVE the city. ( The screenshot is pretty cool!)

But, I just declined giving that app permission to access the internet. It pops up, but when I cancel it , it doesnt crash me.  See the evil cycle there?

But now, I have a more elegant fix.

Thanks Gillette!
